One tip I read once for quick de-cluttering is to imagine that someone is coming over to your house in 5 minutes. What's the area that looks the most messy? Spend the next 5 minutes making it look nice.

My tip for clothing decluttering; if I buy say 3 new shirts then when I put them up I had to purge 3 old shirts. Now when I buy something or think of buying a new shirt I have to think of what I can get rid of. I’ve even gotten so good at it, I can buy 1 new item and get rid of 2 or 3 items! I’m going minimal since when I retire in 5 years I can move to Florida and live in a tiny house.

Sort of on topic, i have begun a dietary declutter. Specifically beverages and sugar. One cup of coffee each morning, iced tap water the remainder of the day (decluttering the cost of bottled water out of my budget). No sugar, which is no biggie since i almost never eat and drink sugar anyway. This is the beginning of decluttering 118 pounds off of my body.

That's when I realized I needed to downsize heavily. Years later I found the KonMari Method and now I'm a proud minimalist who everyone wants to help them declutter as well XD Which is great because I love decluttering so much now and I never thought those words would ever come out of my mouth when I was younger XD Oh how this moment in time made me grow haha

Kudos on the popping in and out... it made it even more interesting. Good tips. We have a place in the upstairs hallway that everyone dumps stuff they don't want. It starts there and winds it's way to the garage (there is a box to donate there). It helps everyone to know that there is a spot for unwanted items. When the box is full it goes to Goodwill. With all the time we're spending at home, there have been quite a few runs to donate. Yesterday 4 boxes of stuff... and I'm sure there is more that can go. Good luck with the closet!

Take a laundry basket or a big box and go from room to room with it for like 10min. Whatever does not belong in that room goes in the box, then you take it to the next room, put the things where they belong and whatever needs to be taken out of room 2 goes into the box and so on. Saw that one on the channel of Shea Whitney and it saves a lot of running through the house taking things to their places.

1 is laundry when my family of 6's laundry falls behind a bit I just let it go completely. Then when I sort I have a give away bin, out of season tub, and a other size for kids(ones I need to save for the younger kids, but the olders have grown out of. Which I sort again and place in the correct tubs). Number 2 is toys, I keep a thrift store box and I bring it out once or twice a week when we are putting toys away. So I like to add a give way bin and any other necessary bins to projects that require sorting. I also have a spot on the kitchen counter I put dishes that I think I should get rid of, and if they stay there more than a week or two I move them into the give away bin.

My kids have their own hamper and do their own laundry. It is easier to sort and declutter in a sense. Also when the older ones worked, they brought some of their own food and in a seperate cupboard. They cooked for themselves. The goal has always been to raise them to be independent and out of the home! Life is easier when you teach them young than enjoy your own life without them living off your money.

@@hendersonshenanigans7837 Of coarse. I was directing my conversation in general and stating the earlier the better. Our society is so child centered, when we are actually delaying kids when they can at an early age learn to set the table, help with dishes and put their toys away. That is all before 5 with help. They can also learn to sit still and not be bratty. I have just seen so many kids go in a store and take fits when they can't have the toy they want. My elderly neighbor would tell me if her kids touched anything or acted out, she would bring them right out of the store! Kids behaved better and didn't run the family or society. I think they were more respectful to their elders.
@hendersonshenanigans7837

@@royalinheritance.5144 I totally agree and I did some work with preschool age kids and some older kids for a few years and 98% of the time it was clear in less then 5 minutes which type of home they come from. And I would make sure to encourage the parents whose children were behaving well and that where working with their kids that they are doing a good job and that their kids are a joy to work with. Because I know as a parent and in teaching/raising my children it's the daily grind and consistency it takes that wares me down and I know when someone says "good job", "I love having your kids over" or "your child is such a joy to be with". It makes me feel like it's all worth the time and effort because even when I don't sometimes see it, others do and it encourages me.

But for me it feels way awesome to have less stuff . I do have items but not as much . I have a shelf in my closet with all my books on it. I don't have a lot of books hanging around the apartment . in my living room I got rid of the end tables because you know that becomes a clutter Department. Thanks again for this video. And some other things i decluttered where's my social media as well. I cleaned up my phone with the apps that I haven't used for sometime. I have a old cell phone that I use an iPod .
