I'm an "old school" '70's & '80's Van Halen fan, and by the time these guitars came out I had shifted my focus from the '90's Van Halen. Back in the late '80's and early '90's there weren't as many signature guitars and buyers out there like there has been the last 20 years. That's an aspect of guitar building, selling and collecting that has completely changed in the last 2 decades. So now that I'm reconsidering possibly getting one of these, I have a new-found respect for them. Your videos do the history a lot of justice. Glad you're putting these out. It's funny, I used to sit in Johny Smith's guitar shop filled with Ernie Ball/Music Man instruments and amps. In 1977-78 that stuff all looked goofy compared to the Gibsons, and Fenders. It's come a long way. Thanks for doing what you do!

That picture of Eddie with the guitar in front of the truck is what I traced to make my VH tattoo back in 93. Just after I had gotten my blue EBMM VH, now faded to turquoise.

Was just curious has anyone pinpointed the reason they fade? Maybe exposure to UV light or something?
@jeffw5443

@@dsvetYeah, it was the stain they used that didn't hold up under basically any UV exposure. Basically every one of them started fading immediately.

I just came across your channel. As an lifelong EVH fan, this was a great introduction video to you and your content. Regarding my guitars.. I have few but my favorite is my early 2000's Peavey Dark Cherry Wolfgang USA. Like the EB's, the thing is a workhorse. No other guitar has the feel or sound. Other guitars include Charvel San Dimas (Body style 2, raw ash) and Pro Mod, plus a custom Warmoth build. For amplification: Original Peavey 5150 ll head and 5150 straight cab plus an EVH 40 Watt Iconic combo. The combo sounds great at 1/4 running through the 5150 4x12. You can really push the amp and get an amazing tone. I look forward to watching more videos and good luck with the subscriber goal! You've got my sub!

I've had a love/hat relationship with 5150 ll. I traded in an non-block letter 5150 head at GC. I assumed it would have the same sound but with another channel. Boy, I was wrong. I bought 5150 ll in a factory sealed box wand didn't try it until I got home. Mistake. It took me years to dial it in but I kicked myself for the selling the other. The Iconic combo is an interesting and inexpensive amp. It's a tad hot... even crispy but I've got it dial. And the clean channel has some nice sparkle. @@ThomTranOnline

When they painted that guitar for you from purple, how did you go about the headstock with Ed’s signature ? I see you still have it, so how was it done ? I’d figure that area of headstock woulda been purple or wood color if it was just wood color….
@ThomTranOnline
7 ай бұрын
Hi! I wondered how they were gonna do that too, and if you look closely, you’ll see the signature is not in the same place it is in the stock models. It’s placed on one of the stripes so you can see it. I think it’s one of the wet slide signatures you can find on eBay. I think. I didn’t do it. But also, on Ed’s striped guitars, his signature is not on the headstock. Hope you enjoyed the video!
