Weird things in the craft room... Dental tools, make-up applicators and brushes, padded pink nail file, hand cream tins (storage); toothpicks; and small paper bags. My favorite weird thing is a large old Princess House crystal ashtray that I use for trash, etc., when I craft or sew. It probably weighs a pound and is perfect for the craft table (pretty, too, because mama likes pretty; and who smokes anymore?).

Not really a "tool", but I like to use Glad Press n Seal when I'm attaching intricate die cuts to cardstock, as it holds the tiny pieces for you to add the glue or tape runner. I also keep cheapo 4x6 index cards to use for stacking die cuts (saves on costly cardstock) & a as small surface to ink/glue on. The backs of shipping labels or Cricut vinyl work well too.

It doesn't have a grid but it's easy to keep clean. And Dollar Tree cutting mats are awesome! I have cut templates with my Cricut for stamping when The real McCoy was out of stock in store. Love the dollar store price for the cutting board sheets. I paid a LOT MORE elsewhere for 4 sheets. I cut them to size and use as dividers for my die, stamp storage that is then placed in plastic refrigerator bins. I add labels using you guessed, it the P-touch. I use baby powder to de-sticky any glue oozes. I use a plastic lipstick vanity holder on the desktop to hold nail scissors (for fussy cutting small embellishments) corsage pins (for re-opening narrow glue applicators) and any small items that would get lost or possibly cut or stick fingers. I use page protectors in binders to store craft CDs & DVDs with the paper instructions/descriptions. Takes up so little room. Use the empty CD/DVD holders to store hand-made flowers by color. I also use clear document holders to make my own die sleeves cut to size and held with clear packing tape (I use magnetic sheets to hold the dies, also cut to size) many KZitemrs share a variation of this, this one is my variation. I have used “free egg cartons” to store alpha letters that often get lost after cutting a batch of them, but also use muffin tins for the same thing. I use the clam shell packaging to make “free” templates for making small boxes, envelopes and glue “guides” for multiple items that must be glued in very precise places. (The clamshells are clear, I mark where the glue goes from the original and cut the clamshell to accommodate the exact spots). I have MANY more, but enough for now. Many, many KZitemrs like yourself have taught me to think outside the box. Thank you!

The deviled egg tray IS GENIUS!! I go through paint trays like a mad woman so that deviled egg tray is now on my NEEDS LIST 😊! Tweezers are wonderful! I have used them for a long time - my first LOVE is photography and I have done a lot of work in a dark room & tweezers were a must so when I got into crafting the tweezers were just kind of there 😂😂. A few Christmas’s ago I got a kit that came with a bunch of different tweezers, scissors- it reminded me of something a surgeon would use, but this was a game changer for me! I know you can find these at Harbor Freight Tools (because I bought another one) and mine comes in a black zip up folio (like a nice planner) inside there are several different tweezers & scissors. You can do so much with these, little tiny detail cuts into areas that you NEVER could reach precisely before, also if you have a vinyl machine- I use mine with my cricket maker - the best part UNDER $10! The reason I bought a second is because I use one with my cricket & the other with general crafting. One thing I discovered recently is blush brush for painting - I’m sorry I cannot remember where I saw this, but they used it to paint chalk paint & it went on SMOOTH! I tried it HOLY SMOKES! I don’t use it for large projects but for smaller ones ABSOLUTELY! Lastly ACETONE NAIL POLISH REMOVER! This has become a staple in my craft room, I have chronic autoimmune illnesses so the smell is rather strong & if I’m sensitive it might be to others so I keep it in a pump bottle & also to keep it from spilling, I also wear gloves because it drys out my hands but that’s my personal preference. But if you get paint on something INCLUDING YOUR CLOTHES this will remove it! Also if you put this on a Q-Tip you can fix any mistakes on your projects without ruining them & keep working over it once it drys, the smell doesn’t linger. I have found this to be a lifesaver especially since My hands are not as steady as they used to be. Thanks for this! If I’m not using any of these I’m definitely going to! I wrote them down! This was fantastic!

When it comes to craft making everything is fair game. I do use my candle jars once the candle is gone. Clean them out and they make great containers for Q-tips and just anything. I have my moms paint brushes in one (85 of them) w/vinyl wording on my desk. I need some trinket dishes.

I love using tweezers...I think I probably use them every day. The set I have are "reverse" tweezers so you don't have to actually hold onto them and they won't come open if you need to lay them down. I find myself struggling with regular tweezers as I've gotten so used to using the others.

I use all of these with the exception of the egg tray! And instead of your adorable trinket trays, I use a muffin tins. In fact I have several different sized muffin tins that I use: large, regular, and mini. The mini is especially good for jewelry making purposes. Fun video ... thank you!

Hi... I hadn't thought of using a deviled egg insert as a pallet but I do use the acrylic refrigerator covered egg storage containers. I have my CE blending smoothies in one and diluted Brusho crystals ready for spattering in another. I am currently coming up with ideas to use a wooden picnic utensil/napkin carrier I got from my Mom. TFS and have a great day! 🙂

I took a basket weaving course years ago and the teacher had a nurse in a class who recommended a surgical tool. It is like tweezers on steroids. I forgot the name. (Ask a nurse!) The back end is shaped like scissors and the clamp end has ridges and useful for pulling through a really tight spot. I keep in my craft room. Possibly used to pull thread in surgery.

I use old plastic placemats the way you used the cutting mats. I have lots of different tweezers because where I used to work they would throw them out. The deviled egg plate is brilliant. I reuse the packaging bags to package the little bits and pieces like you do with your trays. We downsized last year and I’m working on how to reorganize many of my supplies and tools so that they take up less space. Nice video.

My craft space is actually my dining room table and my lap in my living room. I keep a beautiful clear decorative glass fruit bowl in the middle to store current projects. I use the galvanized floral small planter containers from Dollar Tree to hold current devotional projects and their TNs. I store my large collection of stickers and ephemera sets, ribbons, etc in large handled Lock n Lock containers from QVC. The rest of the LnL sets I use in my fridge and freezer. I am always on the look out for large sets with handled rectangles! I batch cook beans etc so use a lot of containers. It's important for me to be able to move my supplies and current projects from room to room. I use.the plastic mini chests on wheels from Target or Wal-Mart to keep other supplies like stamps, spare TNs etc.

the 2 for $1 cutting mats I use for everything, i use them for covers for my Circa notebooks. On the slantedt sharp tweezers and such, My Dollar tree, in oddly has a crazy good 4 piece set in the automotive section. 4 pairs of tweezers for $1!!! 2 of slant nose sharp, one longer, 1 smaller, one very long straight but slant tip, like Tweezerman, and one straight blunt tip but very, very thin and longer than average. Seriously, crazy useful, and sturdy.

I also have the cotton swabs. I have old gift/credit cards for texture/modeling paste with stencils (some cut in small strips for small areas), I use decorative napkins for collage. I have tweezers a little bit different from yours, I have the little spoons that you get when they are handing out samples in a grocery store. I have makeup brushes for blending Distress inks, bubble wrap, ( large and small bubbles). I use metal lids from sauces instead of trinket trays,( cause they were free), but I like the trinket trays you showed. I also have the cellophane for smooshing and acetate for cutting shapes to use for masking. Stuff I've seen other crafters/artists use over the years. I have some old Styrofoam trays with small indentations from when I did Mary Kay makeup demos; they are small and can hold a few different colors of paint or other mediums and can be discarded. They are kind of like a pallet. I have the plastic devil egg tray I got at $ Tree, but never thought to use it for a pallet. Clever!!!!!

Those plastic cutting sheets from Dollar Tree? Ok....I color....not craft. But I also use paints. Now these sheets have a smooth side and a slight textured side. I use smooth side UP. When it gets dirty from markers? I clean with alcohol. If dirty from watercolor or acrylic? Clean with water...add a dab of soap. So these last me awhile. After quite a number of cleanings, I will toss in trash.

I also have a small plastic box with cotton swabs. They come in handy when I'm removing excess dry adhesive from small or delicate areas (just add some Un-Du to the tip of the swab and rub), or for cleaning around the edges of acetate when I'm making a shaker card. I always "treat" the acetate & the edges of the foam tape I've applied around my shaker area with cornstarch, to counteract the static cling in the acetate & the adhesive of the tape, so my shaker bits move more freely. I add a little water or rubbing alcohol to the tip of the swab and clean the excess powder off with that. I'm also right there with you on the label maker. I got mine maybe a couple of years ago, and it has come in soooo handy for organizing! Probably my most unusual tool is eyelash brushes. They're the tiny brushes you use to apply adhesive for fake eyelashes. They come in very handy for applying tiny bits of glue. I have a small jar of Ranger Multi Medium Matte, & I can just dip the brush in that and apply it to my project. I loved seeing your tools, Elisa. That deviled egg plate is a fantastic idea! Mama did say, when you were talking about it, that I can't have hers, though. LOL Thank you for sharing. Take care, & have a wonderful day! :)
