Tres Bon Scott. It's one of those situations where because they haven't got everything from everywhere whoever picked France was probably going to lose. Dansan Guitars, based in Lorient, craft some awesome and rather expensive instruments. I'm sure there are other French luthiers but that's the one I'm familiar with, mainly because I've seen one of their 'Red Special' replicas. Stunning piece of work.

Haven’t watched to the end yet but I think I can help Dan out … it’s an Audio Kitchen amplifier … the French for “kitchen” is “cuisine” … which also means “food” … and we all know the French are renowned for their food! Lotsa fun! As a Kiwi I figured, okay . . . L.R. Guitars: Laurie Williams makes lovely one-off electrics and acoustics using Kauri and other indigenous NZ woods. Amp - Rockit launched in 1977, I had a combo with 15" speaker, very Mesa Boogiesh. Pedals: without a doubt Paul Crowther's Hot Cake Distortion - used one since the mid 70's. Red Witch Empress Chorus - bought one a few years back. Flux Effects Slipstream Delay & Liquid Ambience for delay & reverb (never tried 'em but look pretty good!). Cheers! 😀

You won't believe for which little money the Puretones go these days. They aren't built anymore for approximately ten years or more. H&K built them with very high quality parts in order to sell them for 2-3k. But the market didn't respond. You can get a used Puretone Combo at about 600€ five days a week and sundays two of them. Underrated beast.

I recently got a very nicely built Tele from a Chinese Ebay builder. Real Mexican Fender Tele Deluxe neck! Wild. The pickups were a nightmare though and the bridge was very buzzy and uncomfortable. Got a black Babicz Full Contact Bridge swapped in and 2 Seymour Duncans (Invader Hum neck and a high output single bridge) by Buddy Blues (he's a KZitemr/Guitar Center tech in Orlando. Cool guy, he has a passion similar to TPS). It's now my favorite guitar over my Dean Evo Special Select (Les Paul body). Glad to hear the twang sounds similar to yours, Dan :) I wasn't sure if it sounded right, being new to the Tele ❤ Looks like a black Vintage 75, large black pickguard. All black hardware and a Maple neck. I'm addicted.

G'day Dan & Mick, This time I've got some serious questions for you. I've had these questions ever since I saw your pedal database. Apart from this Challenge, how is a pedal's "nationality" useful? What other types of information do you record on your pedal database? For about 15 months now, I've been writing, and using, an Excel macro to create a workbook, where I keep information about the guitar pedals that I buy, as well as those I want. Three comprehensive lists are made from the book, and emailed to my phone as text files. The book is used to record data that might be useful in the future (such as brand, model, serial nr, purchase date, etc), whilst the lists on my phone are used when shopping - the lists show Brand, Model, Version, and Effect type. I include a little more information than I've listed here, but I don't include Country or Origin, or Country of Manufacture. Nor do I include really weird info, such as Voltage and Polarity. When I originally saw this episode, I wondered why you would include that sort of geographic information. I thought to ask, but I watched this video so late, I also thought I was too late to ask. That's one reason why it's taken so long. I've already made 4 or 5 versions of my workbook, but I'm thinking about a new version, so your answer might help me out a lot. Cheers Andrew
@ThatPedalShow
3 күн бұрын
Hi Andrew, I have literally no idea. Especially when we probably put Boss down as ‘Japan’ when the pedal probably comes from China or elsewhere. Yeah, literally no idea. Perhaps we should add gender too, to make it totally meaningless?
@hisproperty1438
2 күн бұрын
PMSL. That's OK - all it means is that my macro is going well enough.... so far. As for adding gender, that sounds like it would cause more trouble than it's worth. Can you imagine the mayhem you'd be creating? And let's not forget that hardly any two pedal builders can agree on colours for pedal types. Apart from that, I grew up with music from artists like Elvis, Suzi Quatro, Carole King, The Beatles, & T-Rex; not forgetting Aussies such as Olivia Newton-John, Russell Morris, & Skyhooks. I figured out very early that music has no gender.
