In this video, I introduce my “90-year rule,” a simple three-step process I follow to make difficult decisions and avoid regrets. The idea comes from a study where 76% of people in retirement homes said their biggest regret was not the mistakes they made, but the things they didn’t do. It’s the cost of inaction that weighs on us most.
To make decisions with no regrets, I visualize myself at 90 years old, on my deathbed, and ask two key questions:
1. Will I care about this when I’m 90?
2. Will I regret this when I’m 90?
If the answer to the first question is “no,” I stop stressing about it. If the answer to the second question is “yes,” I push myself to take action, no matter how difficult or uncomfortable it might be in the short term.
This process is about choosing short-term pain over long-term regret. Whether it’s leaving a bad relationship, starting a new business, or dealing with personal challenges, I use this approach to ensure I live without regrets.
Ultimately, it’s about understanding that short-term discomfort leads to long-term gains, and it’s better to face the hard choices now than to regret them later in life.
