Bell was holding out, so it was pure stupidity and his choice. Gurley on the other hand was due to arthritis in his knees, which limited his playing ability. Nobody can control when they get arthritis, and most people never get it in their lifetime

Number 1 is either Brock Osweilers 4 years 72 million deal with the Texans, or Sam Bradford's rookie contract eith the Rams at 6 years 76 million.

It's crazy that all of the people in this were coming off career years, my idea for making running backs last longer would be 1. First or second year work them like dogs to make the most out of the rookie contract 2. The year after workhorse year cut their carries in HALF for the year making them work on their endurance during the down season 3. Then work the shit out of them year 3 or 4 4. Take team option and cut carries in half again during contract year then resign them for less 5. Get one or two pretty good seasons then cut their ass at age 30

If you're going to discuss the worst NFL RB contracts, will you also discuss the worst NFL QB contracts. After all, it's easier to justify Todd Gurley's contract than the contract the Rams gave Jared Goof (er, Goff). Similarly, you always love to rag on Carson Wentz, and the contract that the Eagles gave him. Likewise, do you think that Daniel Jones will be worthy of the $40 mil.year that the Giants provided him at the same time they're treating Saquon Barkley like a red-headed stepchild? Blake Bortles received a huge contract only to be released a year later by the Jaguars despite Jacksonville making an AFC Championship game despite him, not becaiuse of him. The Jaguars also gave Nick Foles a laughable contract as well. Finally, the outrageous contracts that Sam Bradford and JaMarcus Russell received resulted in the rookie contract scale. You could similarly discuss Bradford's and Russell's contracts in a discussion of the bad contracts which resulted in the NFL instituting the rookie contract pay scale.

Bell made the worst decision of his life when he decided to hold out. Johnson looked like had no talent, Zeke doesn't care about football. Pollard showed who the real talent was in Dallas.
@beheard8453
Жыл бұрын
You do realize that Dallas’ offense ran through Zeke the first 4-6 years of his career? That’s a lot of wear and tear on the body. Look at how many times he led the league in rushing. Sure, Pollard had better production towards the end of Zeke’s tenure in Dallas, but he was also fresher and not overworked. Teams game planned for Zeke.
@jstew4075
Жыл бұрын
Bell made a great decision actually. He saved a year of wear on his body and got a massive new contract with the Jets. Had he played that year with the Steelers and looked as bad as he did his first year with the Jets he would have lost out on lots of guaranteed money.

Did you just start watching football or did you just not put any effort into researching this topic? Sean Alexander signed a massive contract after winning MVP, broke his leg the following season and never had even a mediocre season after that. These were bad contracts but I have seen much worse, if you look at the percentage taken up of the cap space. That effectively put a crutch on the Seahawks organization for about 5 years.

The feature running back is definitely a thing of the passed & is going to go from a player that you used to take top 4/5 in the draft to a couple of guys you get in the 4th & 5th round...... In order for RB's to be taken seriously they might have to become the first position in sports history to unionize & then decide to protest by refusing to play until their demands are met.
