Ikr, These ppl really don’t understand Japanese culture. I’m Japanese and almost everyone dips the TIP of the sushi when they eat, And ppl here are like “No!! I need it soaked!!” 😠 Like whyyyyy?? Edit : sorry that kinda sounded harsh but I hope you get the point, I really wish everyone could try eating it in a traditional way and if you don’t like it I don’t mind you soaking the sushi, Just trying to spread the taste of Japanese food and how to eat it traditionally,

@@blue3374 mmm not exactly, she may have the nationality but she grew up there thanks to her parents who are not japanese (this doesnt mean that she is less japanese but rather that her house is not a japanese household* per se), so my point does still stand which is that she is an influencer saying "the correct way" as all her other fellow mostly north american influencers Idk if its a trend or what but the amount of japanese people in the comments saying that they have never heard nor seen this method should make you think a bit more about this "correct way" (personal way) when nobody else has ever heard of this before

In the Netherlands we put butter under our clogs and then walk over our bread to put the butter on there. And if we can't find our clogs, we tie a butter knife to a windmill and wait for it to rotate and perfectly smear it on our sandwich.

I've been eating sushi for 20 years, but I don't think there is a right way to eat sushi. But her method is a pretty good one. It keeps the seaweed crispy and prevents too much soy sauce from going in. I'll try next time.

Kinda same. I keep my wasabi and soy sauce separate and only dip the fish when enjoying high quality sashimi and nigiri but if it's cheap American sushi? I mix it and dip the rice in too. Eat how you like!

Also the ginger is to clean your palate ;) usually eat one before you eat another sushi (different than previous one) so you can taste it more and not be disturbed by previous sushi taste.

I'm Thai and I see Thai people say "this is the only proper way to eat sticky rice" and roll it into a ball. Me and my family have never eaten it that. As an example where i live we say “horchata” (whore-chata) but originally it is pronounced “or-chata” I say that is how it is said (here) but since it is a “mexican” word I’m saying it “wrong”

The ginger is actually for clearing the taste of the previous sushi before you eat another one. It’s to prevent mixing up the flavour of different kind of sushi. Obviously that’s not the “proper” way to have a sushi🙃

@@Floofel. I'm sorry to say Gartasu, but this is not how it is done. The ginger is meant to cleanse the palate for re-airation before trying the next installment of the meal. To do what is shown in the video is not only unskillfull, but also wasteful. It is true that sushi has had many change over time from having started as a bite sized street food all the way to its delicacy status of modern day, but I hope that this featured way is not a popular trend.

My wife is Japanese and said that this is incorrect. That doesn’t get dipped in soy sauce because it is already seasoned with something else (usually vinegar). Then the ginger is used to cleanse your palate before the next sushi.

I lived in Japan 15 years. What she’s showing is not commonly done or even common knowledge among Japanese people but those who are really into sushi and the etiquette know this.

My grandfather said he lived in Japan for 8 years. People ate all different ways. They all hold chop sticks differently. Formal eating would be done the way you showed. Regular working people make a lot of noise when they eat and pretty much attack their food. Like a tea ceremony. At home they just make tea.
