Very nice, Jay. I encourage you to keep up with the way you explain the soundstage and imaging. Few (if any) do. It helps. And yes, these are absolutely perfect-looking speakers for any class. Solid walnut and leather front AND back - how can you improve on that? The panel sculpting is clean and simple. The crossover is not only something of high quality but it's - finally - beautifully displayed. We need more exposed crossovers. They are beautifully simple - looking speakers. Of course, system matching is my question.

Love seeing your excitement when talking about these beautiful speakers. How speakers look matters to me. You could tell me that a speaker was developed by a massive collaboration between the worlds top audio engineers and they have discovered the gold standard of sound, but if it's ugly I don't want it, lol! I've had ugly speakers and that's how I found out how much the appearance means to my enjoyment. I really love the design of SF speakers and all that I've had a chance to hear sounded wonderful as well!

I connected an Octave RE320 amplifier with Super Black Box to the Maxima Amator's and they paired very well. Rich sound with fantastics separation, imaging, soundstage, etc. They aren’t the best all around speakers but, their special sound is very captivating, enough so that I bought a pair. However, they can't fill a 30x15x15 foot room. Room size matching is important.

I agreed everything you said in the review. Few weeks ago I AB tested the Maxima and Electa Amator in the dealer’s listening room for two hours. My final conclusion was that the Maxima was more accurate than the Electa with smoother high and deeper bass. However, Electa was actually more fun to listen to in my personal taste. It had more exciting high and fuller “mid” bass. The dealer also suggested me adding a SF Gravis 3 sub to the Electa (or Minimum) to make it even more exciting. In the end, I think SF has made some modifications to the Amator sound in the Maxima to make it a neutral sounding speakers. But is it more fun to listen to? It depends on one’s tastes. I fully understand why you decide to buy both speakers because they don’t sound alike! :-)

Very interesting review. Would you say that this speaker as refined and textured as it is, still "kicks you in the nuts"? I'm looking for a speaker that is able to deliver punchy tight bass, neutral mids and defined highs that aren't fatiguing. I listened to a McIntosh MA12000 integrated amp with Wilson Audio and then with Sonus Faber and was truly blown away so much that I bought the amp. @@Jayiyagi If it's not too rude to ask, what do you do for a day job to be able to afford both sets of speakers (and all that other expensive gear)?

Hi Jay, I have Wilson Sabrina speakers, how would these compare? I like dynamics and 3D soundstage

I have only heard the book shelf and the Olympica iii and the original Sabrina. The wilson seemed to have more bass impact where the Sonus Faber was a touch more round in the bass. I feel like this makes the wilson sound more dynamic. Cost no object I would take the Sabrina for sound quality and Sonus Faber for looks. I would be happy with either. Both need subs imo so splitting the difference on bass might be moot as I would cut them off at 60hz anyway.

Hi Jay! I love what you are doing with the channel. I have to ask (and certainly feel free to reply by PM if you are inclined) but I was wondering, in an older video on another channel, you mentioned that the Wilson Sabrina's were your dream speaker but were out of our budget at the time. These are very close to the same price. I was wondering, what made you go this direction over the Sabrina's? I really hope you are willing to share your thoughts as I really value your insight. Stay well and keep up the good work!

“Achievable dream” is I think how I put it at the time. I would choose the wilson sabrina as well in my life time but the maxima mesmerized me to make a spontaneous decision Overall, as I have replied in detail on another commenter here; they both have their strengths
