Although I appreciate the vintage music, you should test modern music that's a little more base heavy too. Or something like a Prince album to bridge the gap as well since a lot of the older music tends to stay away from the low end musical notes

Hi, I have had this for about 7 months now and I feel it might be time to change the stylus. Some of the songs don't seem to sound as clear as before, particularly the ones in the inner grooves. I'm only a newbie so I'm not that trained to tell when I need to change it, so I'm driving myself crazy thinking about it. The booklet for this model (VTA-270B) says that the replacement needle is # ITNP-LC1. This has been problematic to find in Ireland (Victrola website doesn't allow for shipping outside of USA). Anyway, I came across this on Amazon which appears to be the correct ones, and they ship to Ireland. However, it doesn't list VTA-270B on its list that it's comparable with, so now I'm confused. www.amazon.com/Victrola-ITNP-LC1-Turntable-Replacement-Needles/dp/B00DH2N2E4/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 Is the above the correct one to use? Also, my Victrola booklet says that the stylus should last 50 hours. That seems very low. I've probably used it for around 100 hours now at a guess, so perhaps I've been using it too long? Also, I had bought this one in Tower Records in Dublin, as they told me it was the one best suited to my Victrola that they had in stock: www.musonic.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_544&products_id=30643&zenid=a8ks0e96dhnh168s3g3ef8jq92 However, I'm terrified to use it. It's only got a plastic cantilever, rather than a metal one, and the needle doesn't come down far past the red outside plastic, as the plastic cantilever is running at the same angle as the outer red plastic, if that makes sense (unlike my current one, where the metal cantilever is at a 45 degree angle to the red plastic, so the needle is well below the red plastic). I'm afraid I will ruin my records as the outer red plastic could scrape against my records (particularly given the platter wobbles a little). I also cant adjust the plastic cantilever or I will snap it. Having said that, it seems to be a diamond tip, rather than ceramic, and it cost me €20 to buy! Your help would be most appreciated. I really don't know what to do in relation to replacement styluses, and I don't want to throw any more money away.
@Recordology
3 жыл бұрын
I THINK the first one would work. 50 hours is a LOW estimate based on a sapphire stylus tip...a diamond one (still inexpensive) will last for years. You may have to try them to verify....

Thank u for your review , I just bought one ☝🏽 and love it. I’m replacing it , (has a little scratch I don’t like) and because the one they sent me , wobbles my record a little . I’m gonna purchase one of those weights u put on top , and a slider. I’m thinking 🤔 it wobbles because of the belt . Can u make a video of types of belts to buy or even stylus , to change out ? I heard some of the factory stylus are not the best and it’s better to buy one separate and change .

Thanks for watching....... GREAT QUESTION! So I have been told that there is only one company that makes cassette mechanisms these days. I have “the Metropolitan” version of this turntable, which is basically the same, minus the cassette and CD player features. Have you noticed an inconsistency of speed in playing 45 RPM records on this device? And do you know of any way to correct such a problem, by chance? 78 and 33 1/3 seems pretty consistent (or perhaps I just can’t hear the variations at those speeds), but I hear a fair amount of wavering tone at 45 RPM.

Hello, Excellent review!!! I am struggling with something and I have looked the web without success about this and I found your channel which by the way is great how you review the devices and I think you will be able to help me, I have a technical question to this speciffic Victrola Player you reviewed: I own a Victrola 8 in 1 player, they call it "the navigator" and the one you reviewed is called "the empire", anyway... there are a lot of multi players out there but most of them on the CD player lack 1 essential function: "continuous or gapless playback" meaning that the albums that have songs that should go together (like the first two songs in the Sgrt. peppers album from the beatles or concert albums) mine for example despite being Victrola it does add an annoying pause between tracks that should segue, so my question to you is does this player has the gapless CD playback function? or is it the same among all victrola players? I know that for mp3 discs that function is not available but for CD audio formats they are, so I don't want to waste my money buying the same technology I already own. I hope you can see this and give me your thoughts. Thank you so much for your time!
@Recordology

Thank you for your kind words! And welcome to the channel! Very good question… As far as I can tell they all use a pretty basic CD player mechanism. Without verifying it I’m going to guess in 99% certainty that they all feature a gap between songs unfortunately.

Hey I just got this the other day and I noticed tonight it makes a little noise when I set it to phono and the turntable starts to move. It’s nothing too bad but I’m so inexperienced I don’t know if this normal or not or if it was there the other day! Can anyone tell me if it is? It’s doesn’t drown out the music or anything and I only hear if I’m right on top of the player. There’s also a slight wobble I noticed when it moves. Looks like yours in the video might be doing the same but can’t tell.

Record-ology the noise isn’t coming from the speaker itself. It sounds more like the turntable. I was trying to ask if the wobble is causing that sound. @@Recordology I hope it was just mine and not a whole batch of them that were defective right out of the box! I'll be doing an "Update" video soon on my Victrola. I don't know if you subscribed to my channel, but it would be splendid if you did. It would also be awesome if I subscribed to yours as well.

Get that shrink wrap off your LPs ASAP! It will warp your vinyl over time, especially if the LP is not stored in the middle of other records. Great video and information!

I’m new and I’m interested in using vinyl, so I’m looking for a player. This unit seems very good, but I’m also stuck between this one and the AT-LP60X, as I’ve heard good things from it. Just looking for something that’ll last some time and doesn’t damage my records or anything. Which should I go for, between those two? Would appreciate some help, haha!

Do you have powered speaker or a stereo to connect it to? If so I would go with the LP60x.

I somehow overlooked this review but this a nice looking unit. It also sounds pretty decent too. Should be ideal for those that want an all-in-one solution.

I got the Victrola Cambridge (very similar to this), and I can't recommend it enough. Sounds really really good. I bought a LP60 at the same time and returned it. I have a home theater for dedicated listening, but for a casual hobby and when you don't want a speaker setup (our kitchen), this is an amazing value.

Does this record player connect to sound bars? I don’t care for the actual speakers on the player. Got mine the other day having connectivity issues

what does it mean if my record player is staticky ? i have a victorla 4 in 1 i got it for my birthday just 2 days ago and it’s staticky
@Recordology

GOOD QUESTION! Vinyl naturally creates static buildup during play....cheapest fix is to rinse records in water (then dry.) Also, carbon fiber brushes can help...

Hi record ology, this really is a good all in one unit. The only thing that prvents me from buy this one is that it has no am radio. I feel if you are going to get an all in one, include the am radio.

I saw on other U tube clips that these players as also croslys are no good and bad for records what's the truth?
@Recordology

The truth is that they will not damage records but will wear them slightly faster than more expensive units. They still are however great units and lots of fun. Thank you for watching and commenting!

My main concern is their track ability or lack of. I know they will track most records alright. I've played different types of records in different condition on those types of turntables. They tend to skip a fair bit on less than perfect records like compilations with lots of songs on each side crammed into narrow grooves. Also anything bass heavy tends to cause the stylus to bounce out. I know they track heavy however as you stated I don't think that's really the issue. I think the tonearms on those types of turntables tend to be too flimsy with cheap plastic pivot bearing points. One of the reasons they need to track heavy to hold the stylus in the groove so it doesn't jump out.

I have the same turntable but the line output doesn't work for me, when I connect it to some speakers I still get sound from the turntable, if anyone knows what to do about it, I would really appreciate it if you could tell me how to fix it

I wanted to attach external speakers to it. I don’t know if this one has a pre amp in it ... there are RCA cables provided with it. Should I connect to an receiver ?
@Recordology

Good question - I believe cables are included - and connecting to a larger sound system would give slightly better sound, this does have a built in pre-amp as do all red tip ceramic cartridges. Thank you for watching and commenting!

I was looking at getting a similar Victrola model...quick question though...are the top doors adjustable? I may put it on a ladder shelf that will have a shelf above it so I’m curious if I can control the height a bit when the lid is opened.

Have you ever reviewed any combo units like this that give you any basic EQ control at all. The only one I’ve found so far was the Crosley one that looks like it’s from the 70’s . 1972 I think?
@Recordology
5 жыл бұрын
Good question - I don't think so. You could use the output into a device with EQ however..... Did the Crosley 1975 have a tone adjust? Its been a while.....
@thesoftwhite3way

Yes. It has a bass and treble knob. It’s kind of a sticking point for me if they don’t offer any kind of EQ on the unit though I would love to get a smaller one like that that’s all in one.
