I am 64 years old and on March 1st of 2021 I went to my doctor for my yearly physical. I was 321 pounds. I found out my AC1 was 6.4 and was told by my doctor to come back in three months and if my AC1 hadn’t improved I would have to be put on some kind of medication. I immediately began Dr. Bergs plan and went on low carb keto lifestyle change. It took over two months to work into the OMED plan. I started having a protein shake between 3:00-4:00pm and then eating my meal around 6:30pm . On June 2nd I had my follow up with my doctor. I have lost 27pounds and my AC1 is now 5.8 !!! I plan to stay on Dr. Bergs plan until I reach my ideal body weight. I am 5’11 so that will probably take me a year to reach my correct weight. Thank you Dr. Berg!

I'm doing the same thing. Refused to take metformin and found the berberine online. It immediately normalized my blood sugars because I test my blood regularly at home and lab work show improvement and I immediately started to lose weight without try , I've lost 60lbs . My medical doctor was furious with me , she kept telling me I should be on metformin and I told her I won't take it because I found online that it was recalled 2 that year for having to high of an amount of a cancer causing ingredient, so that means there's an allowable amount and I won't take it and my doctor still tried to convince me to take metformin. I said the berberine is working, lab work shows it's working , so I don't need to take it. Then she said you need to take a medicine to protect your kidneys and a med for cholesterol. I told her my cholesterol is good , so I'm not taking it and I'm not taking any medicine until my lab work shows there's a problem or I'm having physical symptoms. My doctor didn't like that , she was unprofessional and I'm still thinking of complaining to the administration. I will changing doctors. I've lost a lot of faith in the medical system.

Acne has decreased considerably, less hair in the drain & I notice my hair isn't oily at all anymore. Not sure yet if it will help me have regular cycles, but definitely helps me block excess testosterone and my body uses glucose better. Also if I take before sleep because I snack sometimes at night I don't have that numbing feeling that feels like the blood isn't flowing right whenni wake up. Well 2 weeks in and better already. The correct way of saying would have been, “There was berbere or barberry/berberis in the food.” Berberine is a type of salt in plants like barberries, Chinese goldthread, and Californian poppy. Berbere spice for food is made up of chiles, garlic, fenugreek and a handful of warm spices, such as allspice and cinnamon. Barberry or berberis which is a type of fruit is also a spice. Hi. I saw that your question wasn’t answered. I wanted to let you know that Hawthorn can be taken long term. It is generally well tolerated and has a long history of use. Berberine however is still being researched even though plants that contain the alkaloid have been used for thousands of years. Herbs that contain Berberine such as Oregon Grape Root, Barberry, Goldenseal for example, are generally not taken for long periods of time. They are usually used shorter term for acute conditions like infections or flare ups of chronic conditions like ulcers. I am seeing Berberine studies stating that it has been safely used for 2 months to 12 months but each of those studies used different dosages and were addressing different conditions.

@@aaliyahsswoop6706 I tried a bunch of stuff and berberine worked the best. I lost a little weight but then I got Covid right after I started and quit all dieting. Honestly, I don’t think berberine (or any supp) does much. But I do feel like it does something barely, and it was the only supp that I felt that way about. If it wasn’t so cheap I might not take it, but since it is cheap I think it’s worth it for placebo affect if nothing else.. To this day, nothing has or will ever work as well as adderall as an appetite suppressant for me. When I take adderall, I can go literally all day and never get hungry once. But adderall is a hardcore drug, and doing it every day is unrealistic for me bc my sleep would suffer badly. Some ppl can do it every day, not me. I imagine it is not healthy to take daily anyway. But I still have my adderall prescription and I will always bust it out every once in a while. Berberine is a good substitute to take in the days I don’t take adderall. Much healthier and more gentle. With adderall though, I lost like 20 lbs in 3 weeks. Radical weight loss, and I’m not a heavy guy with tons to lose (went from 185 to 165 in 3 weeks. My ideal weight is like 145 and I’m 5’8” male). This is with very little exercise, and absolutely exploding with infinite energy every day. But yea, not sustainable. Great as an occasional recreational drug tho, and great to kick-start a diet or maintain it when I start getting cravings.

It’s basically the natural version of Metformin. Unfortunately it’s bioavailability/ absorption isn’t very good. About 80% is lost. Also it affects AMPK pathways like metformin and has the same negative side affects of turning off MTOR making it almost impossible to gain muscle and strength if you workout. Still, like metformin it’s life extension, cardiovascular and anti cancer etc benefits can far outweigh the bad. Just something to be aware of and make the best informed decisions for yourselves. If you can’t get a prescription for metformin, this is the best alternative so far besides fasting and a healthy diet/ lifestyle.

I am an avid follower of yours, but i cannot agree with your enthusiastic, promoting of berberine. The studies i have seen are very small and not conclusive. 100mg given to rats induced 40% diarreah, the same in cats induced vomiting and they all died, also their are some studies where there was damage to the lungs. I am not a doctor, and have only touched the "surface" with my research, but there is enough doubt, not to as yet, recommend this product. Plus 'thorne' berberine is the the only berberine that has been recommened. Please do not see this post as a negative, cause i know you are only there to help people

I just cancelled my Amazon order and will do further research. I tend to watch a video such as this one, and get an order in immediately, before I do my own research. Often times I read something that causes concern, so the enthusiasm for another supplement to to my arsenal, wanes. Thank you for this info.

Do you have examples of before and after bp readings? Did you get off bp meds( if you were taking)? And how long did it take to see results of lower bp? What was your dosage?

Once again we need dosages and times. I will share that I've read 500mg twice a day, but I still haven't found when to take, morning, night, before or between meals. I've been taking for years for blood sugar control (with banaba leaf). Very effective, I did not know these other factors.

I had high BP and saw several doctors about it, none of them could tell me whats causing it or recommend anything but pills. I started taking niacin flush, l-arginine, learned about nitric oxide and started paying attention to my breathing to make sure that my breathing is shallow (I recently realized how quick and shallow my breathing has been over the past years). Now, about 6 weeks later my BP is in 130s/80s vs being in 150s/100. I also did a liver and gallbladder flush and that always brings my bp down too, plus my digestive system feels much better after it.
