The stories of Panchatantra are not from our time, but from a very long time ago, almost 1500 years ago. They were written by Pandit Vishnu Sharma in Sanskrit. Some people think Vishnu Sharma is a fake name, but others do not. All the stories in Panchatantra teach us good lessons. At the beginning of the Panchatantra book, there is a promise made by Vishnu Sharma. The king of South India, Amarashakti, had three foolish sons. On the advice of his minister Sumati, the king gave Pandit Vishnu Sharma the job of teaching his foolish sons. Vishnu Sharma asked for just six months. He understood that to truly educate the princes in just six months, he had to avoid traditional methods. So, he cleverly decided to teach them through moral stories. These stories really opened the eyes of the princes.Vishnu Sharma's stories are divided into five parts:
1. Mitra-Bheda (The Loss of Friends)
2. Mitra-Labha (Gaining Friends)
3. Kakolukiya (Of Crows and Owls)
4. Labdhapranasha (Loss of Gains)
5. Apariksitakaraka (Rash Deeds).
Most characters in Vishnu Sharma's stories are animals and birds. He told the stories through them. These characters seem alive and through them, human traits are shown. Of course, some humans also appear in his stories. This collection has some of the best stories from Panchatantra. To keep it simple for children, complicated words are avoided. The stories are presented in very simple language. Finally, if children like this book, my hard work will be successful.Credit goes to the Pritviraj Sen and Aditya Publishers
