If your parents are in their mid-to-late-60's, inflation was higher when they graduated from high school or college than it is now. The average 30-year mortgage rate was about 12%. Inflation is cyclical, you just have to try to ride it out. Cash is good now, your checking account will pay you about 5% interest, something that didn't exist since Meemaw was a girl. While I do agree that America has fallen a long way in terms of being a place that cares about its working middle class, inflation is far down on the list of day-to-day things I worry about. I'm more worried about me or my kid being hit by a stray bullet from a road rage incident, a thing that happens weekly around here now and that my parents and grandparents never would have dreamed possible.

I hear your statement loud and clear and it makes sense. On the other hand back then they could afford to have a stay at home woman of the house while the man worked, could save money, raise three two four kids on one income, own a decent size house, ect ect. Things are a lot different these days. While I agree we have the option to make more money, that money doesn’t stretch as far as it did just a few years ago. While I could never live in a city setting due to the crime that comes with it, we struggle out in the country just as much just in different ways.

Raising the minimum wage is not causing inflation. The cause of inflation is greed. What you are doing is amazing but you should acknowledge your community which allows you to thrive selling plants. Knowing how to do community and cooperate rather than compete is the only way to thrive. Do we really want to aim for sufficiency when we could have plenty

inflation caused people to beg for a raised minimum wage leading to more inflation on prices, and job losses, just look at California. greed is a source of inflation I agree but its not the only cause, there are many reasons for this. none of my consumers are really on my KZitem maby a handful of local people are watching me, we give huge shoutouts on our Facebook which is more localized. communities share skills as I stated we all should, thanks for watching

@@Earthdwellershomestead by community I am not just referring to the people who buy your products but all so to the plants themselves and the microorganisms of the soil food web. they are the producers to your consumers, you are merely the facilitator of that relationship of production and consumption. I think that when you see people as consumers then it sets up a competitive relationship where more for them is less for you, but in community there is cooperation where more for me is more for you. I bet that a good number of your consumers would be willing to pay you more if they could and/or if you would ask.

@gilichu that’s a truly unique response, quite intriguing actually. We use our zero waste compost heater as food for our 3-3.25 acre property and allow growth over all beds when not in use. Feeding the soil, and repairing the land is very an inclusive part of our new property. Thanks for the input, you got me thinking lol

We’re not doing well financially as a collective, we’re getting less for more. Every aspect of an Americans life is more expensive, self sufficiency on any level is great.
