The American Kestrel, also known as Falco sparverius, is North America’s smallest falcon. During its breeding season, it thrives across Canada 🇨🇦. These vibrant birds are agile hunters, often seen perching on wires or hovering over fields.
Despite their small size, kestrels are fierce predators and truly are tiny hunters with a mighty spirit, feeding on insects, lizards, mice, and small birds.
Unfortunately, their population has declined since about 1970, and conservation efforts aim to support their habitat and well-being.
