I was there. 24 at the time. I can remember bits and pieces. We got up early to drive from Flint to Kalamazoo. We there before Ratt played. Crue were the Best. Ozzy and then Accept!!! It was hot!!! We walked all over the place from the front of the stage to back on the hill. Still have my ticket stub. I’m now 64. Oh and there were all kinds of drugs there!!!

This is one of my fondest concert memories! I was 18 and we drove from Northbrook, IL to see this one. My friend was able to have his parents drive us (me and two of my buddies) to the show. Being only 17 at the time, we didn't think about the time zone change a missed Ratt and Accept, two of the bands we really wanted to see. We did run into Stephen Pearcy and Juan Croucier of Ratt at our hotel that evening. I remember walking up the hill and back down a just wandering around in the heat. It was so hot that day. I kind of remember some of the bands playing, but for the most part it was just fun to walk around the hill and just have fun with all the other metal heads. Thanks for putting this documentary together. 40 years ago and it somewhat seems like yesterday.

I got the worst sunburn of my life at this show but loved every minute of it. I was 16 that year and made the trip with two of my best friends, Jim and Norm.

thanks for putting this doc together. I went to a lot of summer concerts back then. Val-Du lakes, The Castle, etc but his was the concert of a lifetime. Watching this brought back some good memories of that day. i remember vince climbing on the scaffolding. those were all my favorite bands back then and to see them all in one day was amazing. Very cool to see the behind the scenes. Darn shame the locals got screwed.

What a great time, me and some buddies was there the night before and partying in a farmers field with thousands of others, was at the front when they started letting people in, ended up about 10 yards from the stage, those water canyons sure felt good in the heat, I was 19 and now 59, it's something I'll never forget, oops had to edit meant 19 not 17 years old, my eye sight just ain't what it used to be lol

Thank you for the wonderful, wonderful Video. Wow, don't remember it being called the American Rock Festival. In the past I would look up Timber Ridge Concert 1984. I purchased a "legit" shirt there, which I didn’t see in the examples. Some scumbag stole it off my Mom's clothesline back in the day. OK, first talking point: Does everybody remember how the Chemical Toilets were conveniently placed on top of the Hill unbeknownst to the thousands of people who were setting on the slope and beyond that got their asses, blankets, towels and what not soaked with Blue Toilet Chemical (and other fluids and solids). Ah the memories. Second talking point: We arrived the evening before it got dark outside and noticed most if not all the people who lived on 131(?) had barricades, ropes, and whatever blocking access to their yards. We left after hearing a few songs from Triumph, and then on the way home; My Goodness, all the ropes barricades and whatever were sprawled in complete disarray along with cars, beer cans and trash.

I always thought it was called Great American Rock Festival! Me and two school buddies got there early so we had minimal traffic delays! Great day! We stayed thru Ozzy and didn’t stay for Triumph, which I do regret now! It was a long day that started early at 4 am!!
