I'm over here absorbing the entire series as I code away on my own indie project. It's incredibly inspirational & motivational, as were the previous documentaries. I've never met any of these amazing people, but I feel weirdly close to them after following along on their amazing journey. I was heartbroken when Anna left, for instance. Tim's been a hero of mine since I was a teen, of course. I absolutely adore these documentaries & look forward to (hopefully) more in the future. Until then, I'll be recommending them to all my fellow game devs & revisiting these whenever I need a good, lengthy set of appropriate background noise while I work. 😆

This movie is the perfect opposite of the dumb "reality contest" shows on tv. Instead of manufactured competition and rude arbitrary juries, two intense weeks of a lot of talent focused on a single small thing. You can feel the attachment to the project, how important is a good relationship between them and the teamwork necessary to get anything made at all. Every playable videogame in the world is a miracle. I don't care who won, after the pitch I wanted them to be happy with their projects' results. (But ¡ah! no game about singing sandwiches. Oh well...)

Yeah! Disempowering player characters at their height, for some tragic intermission before the final bossfight, is a big trope by now, but to structurally disempower them and build a whole game around that, gradually focusing in on an ever humbler agency, that's a brilliant concept. And yeah with that plot premise, I'm hype to see where they go with prototyping it.

Rewatching a year later, Asif's _Armoured Slug_ gives me an idea that reminds me of the stage battles from _Brutal Legend_ - that maybe you can set up little turrets along the shell that normally do a small amount of damage, but, when you interface with them, they become significantly more powerful (i.e. a single shot gun becomes a machine gun). Maybe you can even interface with the snail/slug itself and do a single massive attack. Really makes me think of what a _Brutal Legend 2_ could look like if the emphasis were more on what you tend to see from rock bands on parade routes (setup on the back of a flatbed truck, playing music for the gathered crowd). Although sitting on the shell of a giant snail would make more sense given how slow parades are - plus it'd be fun to see what a heavy metal snail would look like.

35 minutes in. As soon as they renamed blueprint to "Get out of detention", I immediately thought of the Henry Stikman games. Started out as ultra low budget flash game with lots of great silly choices and few actually meaningful ones - into a truly impressive branching narrative that crossed multiple games and went into more depth than could ever be expected for a game with stick figures. Even that title was reminiscent of the setting for the first game - get out of jail. And then the game went on to take KZitem by storm and the devs made Among Us. Lol. (edit: finished now, love how the game progressed. What an interesting mechanic. Cool :D)

I'm not aware of what happens yet to Armored Slug, but what if you had Boss fights against other armored slugs in order to maintain an Oasis/rest area. What if the moral dilemma aside from killing another armored slug would be that once you defeat a Boss/enemy armored slug you can sell the slug meat or slug loot to bandits/pirates for better weapons and upgrades. You could decide to be a peace keeper or simply the most powerful/formidable armored slug and pilot.
