This short travel and photography video tells about our trip to the Orkney Islands and the ancient sites of Maeshowe and Skara Brae with a short visit to Skaill House which is only about a hundred yards from Skara Brae. If you travel to Scotland and in particular the Orkney Islands, and you love ancient history or archeology don't miss visiting these place. The video features the photography of Omar Hansen and tells people about this historic and beautiful place. Maeshowe is an ancient, chambered cairn and burial site, with a 15 foot long entrance. You will see carvings, adjacent chambers and even Viking graffiti. Skara Brae dates back to 2500 BC and earlier, and is the most complete Neolithic settlement in Europe. Ten dwellings complete with stone beds, dressers, hearths, storage boxes and even a sewage draining system make Skara Brae amazing. Skaillhouse is a manor house dating back to 1520, and lived in my a succession of Lairds up to modern days. It is the most complete 17th century manor house in Orkney. For lovers of ancient history, neolithic ruins and Vikings, Orkney, and these unique destinations are not to be missed.
