Bogorodsk is a village on the left bank of the Vishera River. The population as of January 1, 2009 was 1,405. The first documented references to Vishera residents are contained in the Vychegod-Vymsky Chronicle. It says that in 1380, when the monk Stephen Khrap, the future bishop of Perm, came to the area of the Vym estuary and began to convert local residents to Christianity, the local inhabitants reported this to other lands of the Komi Territory, including Vishera. Local residents, who arrived to convert them to Christianity, fought, and the river, they say, became red with blood. Therefore, they called her Virser. Later they began to call Vishera. The first information about Vishera villages and specifically about Bogorodsk dates back to a much later time, namely to 1602. At that time, Bogorodsk was called by a different name - the Vishera graveyard. The sentinel book of 1608 says: “Vishera Pogost on the river on Vishera. And on the churchyard the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos. ” On the graveyard were the courtyards of clergymen (clerk and sexton) and peasants. Vishertsy plowed the land, kept cattle, and caught fur animals with the help of “slopts”, ie traps. Gradually, the number of residents of Vishera increased. In 1873, there were 72 courtyards, 490 inhabitants, there was a post station, a zemstvo school, and volost government. The school was opened in 1873-1874. In the academic year 1880, 15 boys and 6 girls studied there. In the 19th century, the churchyard received the double name: Vishersk-Bogorodsky. The second name (Bogorodsky) was received by the name of the church ("Nativity of the Virgin"). Later, the churchyard became a village. The name Bogorodsk was assigned to it, and the former name (Vishera) came out of official use, although locals still use it in the Komi version - "Viser". At the end of the 1920s, the village had a hospital, a school, a kindergarten, a reading room, an agricultural center, a veterinary station, a state alcohol shop, a police station, a government agency, a land cultivation partnership, a credit partnership and a peasant mutual assistance committee were organized.
