This song was on the border of a cultural shift. They're still wearing suits.... but his hair is pretty unruly, he shouts, and the song's about people from the 'wrong side of the tracks.' That keyboard solo is so smooth, and it feels so integral and fitted to the rest of the song, that it's easy to forget that it's a solo.

This looks so good because it's on film. It's from Pop Gear (1965) which was shown in movie theaters to introduce US audiences to the British Invasion bands.

A cautionary tale told by one who suffered the fate of living a life spent "in sin and misery." To me, the best line in the lyrics is, "Well, I've got one foot on the platform, the other foot on the train; I'm goin' back to New Aw-lee-ans to WEAR THAT BALL AND CHAIN." What foreboding, what a bleak outlook for the remainder of his life.

Eric Burdon is incredible! He was so young here and yet so powerful. It's hard to imagine like others have said that he is 81 and still singing to crowds. He is also a great-grandfather.

Love Eric Burdon & The Animals. They were part of the British Invasion along with The Beatles, Rolling Stones & others. People are always shocked that Eric has such a different unique deeper voice. The Animals had a lot of great hits in the 60's such as "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place", "Baby Let Me Take You Home", "I'm Crying", "Boom Boom", "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood", "Bring It On Home to Me", "It's My Life", "Don't Bring Me Down", "See See Rider", "Monterey", & "Sky Pilot". Eric later joined the funk rock band "War" & they had a few hits "Spill the Wine" & "Tobacco Road".

You can look the lyrics up on the computer. Eric Burden was 23 when this came out and he is now in his 80's and still singing. The keyboard player's name was Alan Price who went onto have his own group and the guitarist at the back was the manager of Jimmi Hendrix.

The choreographer sure had a cushy job. “Okay guys, just kinda wander around the room for a bit and then stand behind the keyboard player for a minute. Then wander around some more. Got it ? Okay, I’m going to lunch.”

The recording they are lipsynching to was recorded in 1964, but this video is from a 1965 movie. The song was recorded in about 20 minutes because that was all the studio time they could afford. Done in one take. Eric Burdon, the lead singer, was 23 when this was recorded, 24 in this video. He's 81 and still sounds great. No vocal training at all.

HOLY only 20 minutes for a whole music video and it came out flawless lol. Geez the fact that he is still singing at the age of 81 is mind blowing as well!

more likely pre recorded common in those days i just know it just by their ease and calmness in strutting around while performing .unusual vocalist letting out soulful husky metallic joe cocker like voice while standing still like a street sign pole.Too bad none of the band members got imposing beard and stache like you do.
