"I wish that I had known in that first minute we met, the unpayable debt that I owed you". One of my favorite lines from any song.

It's a concept album, but it was based on an actual relationship he was in. He was definitely hurt. It's real.

I agree that people are generally stupid now. But there's only so much sad shit people can take. I could see smart people using the cat video to cheer them up more often than someone listening to this in a particular emotional moment.

Any other albums similar to Hospice? I know there's nothing just like it, but something similar, maybe the atmosphere or the theme. Also, a movie with the same album theme? Most I can think of is "The Fountain", but the angle is very different

Yeah, Thom should have been more careful with his voice. Also, once people reach a certain age and settle down with kids, this type of adolescence-adjacent sentiment, moving as it is, dissipates (if they're lucky; when it doesn't, they seem to OD).

I can appreciate the artsy shit in all this...BUT...it's a total rip of of "You really got a hold of me by Smokey Robinson. Slow the song down about 4-5 beats and you'll find the fundementals of the melody are pretty much the same.
