Just got to the end of your playlist , and wanted to drop a line and say thanks for putting so much care and thought into your videos, its very clear to see that you are very passionate about pipe smoking. I have recently started smoking a pipe, and got through about 4 bowls and thought "this isnt for me". watched your videos and realized I just need to be patient. Im about to start my second tin, and am loving the "hobby" thanks for all the info and keep the good work and keep those videos coming.

Steve Maclean - I am passionate about pipe smoking, but I am more passionate about helping people start smoking a pipe the right way, so they don't end up like you were about to. Now that you know what you're doing, you're loving it. That's outstanding. 👍👍👍

I like pipes that sit on their own. I see many of yours do. To me, that's more important than anything. But to answer your question at the end, I definitely prefer the tobacco! I'd smoke it from a hole in the dirt if there were no pipes. Lol.

You know I bet you there are people who feel I'm an Idiot for not monetizing in some way, but I for some reason don't think its right, gifts of tobacco or pipes, or accessories I will accept, but I feel that is more personal, that says "hey man, we like what you're doing, here is a little something from the heart to say thanks" instead of money which to me is not so personal. :) :) :)

Good tip. I do have certain pipes for different types of activity. I smoke cobs or Dr Grabows (inexpensive) for camping, fishing and dog walking. I have smaller bowl sizes at home for 30 minute smokes. I have my nicer, expensive pipes at work where I smoke at lunch on a park bench. I don't have time to handle/prep tobacco, so I tend to only smoke ribbon cut mostly from a tin.

Really enjoy your videos! Even an experienced smoker can get tips from you. 95% of my pipe smoking is done on my deck at a table (the Mrs. doesn’t allow it inside 😀). So I prefer a “sitting” or flat bottom version such as my Peterson System 306, Savinelli 310 or 311 poker. Rossi (by Savinelli) has an entire series of ‘sitting pipes that are still exceptional pipes at a bargain price.

Careful with that, you definitely want a reputable pipe(even if it's a missouri meerschaum cob for 6 bucks). Lots of bad pipes out there, you generally want briar, meerschaum, or corncob as your first pipe. I would not advise any other material. Make sure you get it from a reputable source, and you'll maximize your experience. Edit: Oh, and get a sampler of several tobaccos from an online vendor that offers 1 ounce samples for 2-4 bucks each. That way you can try a few aromatics, english, virginia, virginia periques, burleys, flakes, and so on. I recommend Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bullseye flake, that'd be a good first smoke thats very easy to like. Cheers to you.

This hit home. I’m fairly new to pipe smoking started out with a corncob and recently purchased a mr. brog poker. But I didn’t realize how large the bowl was. I smoked it twice and it’s just way too big for me takes a good 2 hours to finish it and since it’s winter here in the northeast that’s way too long for me. Maybe when spring or summer hits I’ll feel differently.

I think I prefer tobacco. I can get a great, satisfying smoke from a $10 Missouri Meerschaum corn cob so long as the tobacco is good. However, if I smoke some bad tobacco out of one of my expensive briars, I will not enjoy myself at all. Ultimately, I would have to choose tobacco. Pipes are great, but the tobacco can either make or break your smoking experience.

Maybe you should be more concerned with your own life than anybody elses? Seems kinda useless to be worried about what others are doing if it doesn't concern you. Also I take personal offence to this because I'm young and I'm definitely not lazy and neither are many of my friends. I'm 22 years old I've been working my whole life. I worked on the railroad, in forestry, in a sawmill, I've built and restored cars from the ground up which started when I was 14. I've built a log home by hand with an axe, adze, and a draw knife and I cut everything with a hand saw. II'm a beekeeper, a gardener, I'm a qualified herbal practitioner who is currently opening his own Apothecary. You get the point. Seems to me people grow old and bitter and conveniently forget all the garbage that their generation did. Spend more time worrying about yourself instead of others and you'll be a lot happier I guarantee it.
