KNMA presents 'The Artist’s Studio', an online series where artists discuss their practice and artworks that are part of the museum collection and exhibitions.
Seventh in this series, is a visit to visual artist Manisha Parekh’s studio, in CR Park in New Delhi. Born in 1964 in Gujarat to artist parents Manu and Madhvi Parekh, Manisha grew up in the metropolitan cities of Kolkata and New Delhi. She completed her education from MS University in Baroda (1983 - 1990) before pursuing a second Masters in Art in Painting from the Royal College of Art in London (1991 - 93). Manisha Parekh’s artistic oeuvre transcends across various mediums from painting, drawing, collage-making to sculpture and even installations. Making associative links with different themes and elements, experimentation plays an important role in her practice. Manisha often creates layered geometric and organic forms marked by a limited or muted colour palette and inspired by the fields of pattern making, design and craft.
