Once Jones made that terrific catch, they should've ran the ball at least 3 times. Even if New England stopped them in 3 plays, then they would've had a field goal attempt with about 3 minutes left to go up by 10. If they went up by 10, then it was pretty much game over.

To give you an idea of how amazing Tom Brady was in the fourth quarter....The Falcons ran fourteen pays with a twenty eight to three lead. THREE OF THEM resulted in quarterback sacs. TWO of them resulted in holding penalties. TWO of them were runs that resulted in losses of yardage. The Falcons gained fewer than FORTY net yards on their final three drives. Oh wait, Tom Brady doesn't pay defense. WOW I NEVER THOUGHT THAT!!!!

That’s actually their problem.. they kept passing the ball when they could’ve run the clock down. Worse even after the Julio jones catch… they were well within field goal range with under 4 minutes to play.. you run the ball and force New England to use their timeouts. Get 3 more on the board and you’re two scores up WITH the patriots still Needing a two-point conversion.. yet they “didn’t take their foot off the gas” and decided to keep throwing… and oh boy, did they throw that game away.
@teddyjackson1902

You missed the moral of the story completely OP. They were up 8 with the clock winding down in the 4th and kept throwing the ball in field goal range. They did exactly what the patriots needed them to do in order to have a chance. If Atlanta would have run the ball 2-3 times from the 25 and kicked a field goal the game was over. They didn’t. They kept their foot on the gas, Ryan took a huge sack and the rest is history.

Damn Shanahan choked in this game and choked just as hard in the 49ers Superbowl. Miners were running all over them outside the tackles and he's calling pass plays, also running out the clock at half time when you need to score, have 3 timeouts, 1:30 left and passed your own 30 or so. Most blatant coach choke in history. Even John Lynch was signalling to call timeout at half. Obviously, he can take a team to the Superbowl, but he'll choke at the SB, so Lynch should let him get us to the SB then tell him he's got a ringer to call plays during the SB.

Two Pats SB victories that should have gone the other way.

We were having a party at a friends basement and I’m not a patriots fan but everyone was saying it was game over and were typical patriots haters. Something in me though told me that New England could still win it, Brady was mercurial. New England’s defense showed the resilience and came up with big time plays. It came down to the team playing like it was the last game of their life and giving it everything, and that Julian Edelman catch really showed what the guy was about. Every time I’ve watched Julian Edelman he always gives 100%. I think he’s underrated, he may not have the best stats but he’s a guy that fights for the shirt and makes big plays.
