It wasn't telegraphed too much at the time, but during "Thor," when he was trying to recover the hammer from S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Coulson ordered Clint Barton (bow-and-arrow guy) to take up a sniping position on Thor. His quip in that film was "If you want me to do this, Coulson, you better say the word, 'cos I'm starting to root for this guy."

Great reaction of the first big Superhero team-up of the MCU! Clint Barton/Hawkeye, my favorite Avenger since I was a kid. Cos he's just a guy. A guy who did everything he could to train himself to be as great as he could be. Jeremy Renner plays him wonderfully, and I like that we get a lot of his character's backstory in upcoming movies too. For a "lesser" Avenger to still get background and history included was one of the things I loved about these movies. And the stories of interrelations between various characters adds so much. Natasha/Black Widow's story about how she and Barton met: Basically "He was sent to kill me. He made a different call." That was so good, and it, like a lot of the backstories, gets expanded on too in the future movies, but no spoilers. 🙂
@ScreamingScallop

Two points that often get lost in all the action are (1) Loki learns about the Avenger Initiative from Barton and sees Thor is involved, which is why he sets off on his side mission to tear them apart, and (2) Banner locates the Tesseract just before Barton's arrow explodes, which is why he arrives in New York in such a timely fashion. "We ain't bros 'til we punch each other in the nose (and even afterwards we gonna throw down sometimes)" has always been the rule at Marvel, even back in the '40s. DC eventually accepted the dramatic value of even _heroic_ diverse characters with superpowers butting heads, but for decades they went with the family-friendly "I see you also wear a costume, we should team up" option, which saw godlike entities that could reduce people to skeletons with a gesture happily swapping stories with guys whose superpowers were "I work out a lot" or "I can see in the dark."

- Hawkeye was introduced in "Thor" - When Nat was confronting Loki in the Hulk fishbowl cage, he mentioned "Dreykov's Daughter". Remember this name for later (comes back in MCU movie #23). - When you watch "Deadpool" keep an eye out for an older design SHIELD heli-carrier being decommissioned/scrapped/dismantled. - There is a short film that comes just after "The Avengers": it is "Marvel One-Shot #3: Item 47". Agent Blake, played by Titus Welliver, also appears in the first season of the TV series "Agents of Shield". The blueprints in the background of the credits are for things that appear in the opening scene of "Avengers 2: Age of Ultron".

The reason being that a 1998 UK film based on the old 1966 British spy TV series, were both already called The Avengers, and it was thought the UK and Ireland audience would somehow get confused with a Marvel movie of the same name.

"The Hawk", A.K.A. "Hawkeye", Clint Barton or ""Loki Lackey" is the SHIELD agent we meet little more than halfway through "THOR" when Agent Coulson requested a set of eyes above when Thor tries to get to Mjolnir. Hawkeye grabbed the specialized bow instead of a rifle as it's his preferred "weapon of choice" and goes up to the suspended platform. He's actually my favorite Avenger for reasons you'll eventually discover. Welcome to the Marvel universe. Now onto some technical that you were scratching your head on, don't worry though, I will not spoil anything coming up. Natasha and Clint do have hero names (Black Widow and Hawkeye). The verbal fight the heroes have was because Loki could use some of the staffs powers even at range. Hawkeye (Clint) had some control of himself, otherwise he would have shot Fury in the head, but instead shot him in his BP vest. Okay, that is enough from me. "Loki lackey", "Snarky Starky" lol...love it. I love Ed Norton, but I think Mark Ruffalo plays the part better. Keep in mind that the Hulk came about due to a brilliant scientist (Bruce Banner) failing. So it's a source of humiliation for him. He feels like a failure; he feels like a fraud. Plus, as a kind and gentle-hearted man, he is ashamed of the wreckage he causes when this unhinged "beast" comes out. He hasn't really been openly disgraced by society, but he carries a lot of shame and self-doubt. And I think Ruffalo gets that more than Norton did. If you pay attention, Ruffalo is always just slightly hunched and cowering and timid. It's very subtle, but it carries a lot of who the character is as a person. And you just don't see that in Norton. Agent Coulson was meant to be in a couple of scenes in Iron Man and then just go away forever. But the actor (Clark Gregg...which incidentally sounds like the alter ego of a comic book character) is so damned likeable that the higher-ups at Marvel decided to keep him around. Then the actor (Clark Gregg) had the idea that his very stiff, straight-laced character would secretly be a Captain America fan boy, and they loved the idea. Why do the bad dudes need Loki? Because Loki is their lackey. 😉 Although, he doesn't realize it. I suspect that the old man who refused to kneel to Loki is probably meant to be a WWII veteran. And that would make Capt America's intervention to save him more meaningful. I like to think that's the case, anyway. Your take on Capt America vs Iron Man is spot on. Do you blindly follow authority like a good soldier, or do you rebel against authority like a loose cannon? Of course, the answer is somewhere in between...they represent the extremes. And considering that these were comics written primarily for children, it's a real testament to the morals that great comic book writers like Stan Lee and John Romita Sr. were trying instill...and how they did it, not by preaching their ideals, but by presenting these two ideas and allowing the kids to question these things for themselves.

Marvel has no plans to feature the West Coast Avengers. If the WCA were to be a MCU storyline, Jeremy Renner's role as Hawkeye may have to be recast as he was recently in a snowplow accident and is currently still in the hospital. (Happy Birthday Hawkeye, btw... 7th January) Renner's future acting career is unclear at the moment. MCU recently ended Phase Four at the end of 2022 and is now in Phase Five for the next two years. Phases Four through Six are focused on the Multiverse Saga... as seen in the Spider-Man and Doctor Strange films from Phase Four.

After Loki fell from the Bifrost he landed in the hands of the chitauri and their leader and was tortured ( you can see burn marks and blood in his teeth in the Thor 1 end credit scene ) Then his first arrival in avengers he looks sick with bags under his eyes, he is sweating and he almost falls but 2 agents who he turned with the scepter caught him . Then when he talks to Thor he says " i remember you tossing me into an abyss " but he let go himself so his memory was most likely altered and his emotions where amplified through the scepter, then of course the scene you picked up on when he was threatened with pain beyond belief by the Chitauri leader . The film makers knew they could get it past Hollywood censors because Americans don't really know the word "quim". lol The guy with the bow and arrow is Clint Barton (SHIELD code name "Hawkeye"), played by actor Jeremy Renner. He, like ScarJo (Natasha Romanoff...SHIELD code name "Black Widow"), is not "enhanced" or "super-powered" in any way...just awesome at what he does. Jeremy was hospitalized just a few days ago in a bad snow plow accident, and is in very bad, but stable condition. "Tony is the best to talk to Loki, because Tony understands ego". Absolutely true; spot on. Even if it doesn't work...THAT is a great assessment. What's interesting is that Tony starts by trying to appeal to Loki's ego. Then, once he realizes that won't work, he attacks Loki's ego and belittles and insults his ego. Hulk rag-doll smashing Loki in the middle of his big supervillain monologue is one of my favorite moments in the entire MCU..."Puny god." lol The shawarma joke was purely a Robert Downey Jr improv that then became a post-credit scene.

In the MCU you mean. In the comics Black Widow is DEFINITELY super-powered. She is ~100 years old and looks 30 FFS. In the comics, she is orphaned before WWII. She had been part of the Winter Soldier program, Was captured by Nazi's and rescued by Captain America and Wolverine US, Germany, AND the USSR were ALL trying to make their own Super Serum program work She ended up part of the Russian's. It granted her Anti-aging, which is why can look young in our time.

You miss a lot while mugging for the camera. We don't need you to pretend to "look at us". We'd all rather you watched the movie. And the more exciting the scene, the faster you seem to talk over it.

Hi there, I do appreciate your opinion, but I assure you I am not missing anything by glancing at the camera once in a while, I can still see quite clearly what’s happening on screen (peripherals are a lovely thing) and hear it as well. I enjoy having something to look over at, it makes me feel like there’s someone there that I’m watching with. I actually don’t think “you all” want me to stop doing that, in fact I’ve gotten a ton of comments from people who really enjoy it, many more positive comments than negative for sure. Also, of course I talk faster when I’m excited. That’s pretty normal. Either way, I am who I am :) Thanks for watching!

Stop looking at the camera and try and talk less over dialog. You won't miss key moments that way

Thanks for the comment, but I haven’t missed any key moments yet, and most people appreciate the glances to the camera… and the commentary.. it is a movie commentary video after all
