Awesome explanation. Thanks for taking the time to create this video! Now, I just need to go find out how exactly the process of oxidation is ocurring at the molecular level. I'm curious to know where that 3rd oxygen molecule goes when the ozone gas bumps against carbon based objects like steel or biological cells.

I've heard that in some more expensive homes, they'll put a light socket over their shower to put a UV-C bulb (with a timer) so when you leave the shower room (and shut the door(s), turn the timer switch on to turn on the UV-C bulb and it'll help keep your shower clean because the UV-C is killing any mold/bacteria in your shower.

You should really try putting a whole quartz crystal in between the Tesla coil and allowing the arc to pass across its surface you will actually from what I believe witness the fracturing of the curvature of the spark in such a way that the coronal discharge is quite possibly exponential

I don't think all of the corrosion and yellowing in the spark gap can be attributed to ozone. That is probably from nitrogen oxides, which have a yellow-red-brown color and don't quickly decompose like ozone does.

I don't know know much ozone this device generates. However, if you do this very often, it is advisable to do it outdoors: lethal dose starts at 50 ppm. Greatly explained though.

How about the reverse process? To de-oxidise a piece of metal. I´ve only seen a machine that is a high pressure brush of sorts.
@TannerTech

The best way to de-oxidize metals is with heat. I have never heard of the high pressure brush, but that might work.

Can you use a microwave transformer to make ozone?
@Muck-qy2oo
5 жыл бұрын
I hope you know how dangerous ozone can be for your health! You always need to ventilate the ozone out from your room while you are handling these things and 10 minutes after. It connects with notrogen in the air to create hazardous nitrogen connections like which can turn to nitric acid when touching humidity which is probably one of the most hazardous substances! The best thing would be to have a high power ventilation but that might not be feasible or affordable for most of us.

@ChattingwithKev

@Muck-qy2oo ozone is dangerous, just not to humans, due to our superoxide dismutase, humans can actually benefit greatly from ozone exposure.

nice video Is there a corona discharge inside the capacitors? I believe there shouldn't be, because in theory, there's no current flow inside a capacitor, unless the breakdown voltage of the dielectric is exceeded. I could be wrong though.
@TannerTech
7 жыл бұрын
+Colin Ries the voltage is so high that it ionizes the air around it and turns it into plasma. That is the corona discharge.
