Why it cost more? It's called new tech 1) more VRM than previous gen Asus B650 has the smallest from at 12+2 while competitor give 14+2. You won't get this from old board. People keep asking by it's overkill, this is because zen 5 will have big core small core similar to Intel. 2) 2 PCB layer like X570 board 3) 4 DDR5 slot, it's weird why the budget B650 need 4 slot because most of people only install 2 RAM

That you measure where the center of the CPU socket is relative to the edges of the motherboards, and maybe where the DIMM slots are too. Great video! Thinking of getting a new platform early next year. B650E would be my preferred chipset tbh, would only consider Ryzen 7000 over Intel 13th gen for Pcie gen 5 support, the Pcie gen 4 boards don't make much sense with Intel's 13th gen platform and AM4 + 5800X3D existing. Looking at boards like the Asus Rog Strix B650E-f Gaming and similar, hopefully pricing does come down. Motherboard manufacturers are charging way too much in the midrange and upper midrange for AM5 in my opinion plus DDR5 pricing makes it hard to justify buying rn.

Upgrading to AM5 and looking at motherboards so for me the criteria is at least 3 m.2 slots with PCI-E slots at the pre-requiste and then the nitty gritty - I'd rather have m.2 slots PCI-E lanes come of the chipset for other 2 and not the CPU. My current AM4 rig is now going to my youngest sibling (2700X upgraded to 5600X, reusing the current Arctic esports 34 CPU cooler), Aorus Elite X570, 4x8 GB bdies RAM, new case (Fractal Design G), 850Watt PSU, 980 pro with heatsink, 27inch monitor at 165hz 1080p. PSU, M.2 and Monitor picked up during black friday deals. The GPU is a RX480 and once I upgrade from the reference 7900 XTX that wil be going into that PC completing the build. For my personal build, having looked around, seen a few buildzoids overviews, read manuals, price compared feature sets I've shortlisted my first motherboard or series - Asus ROG STRIX X670E maybe the F variant not sure yet - need to do more research (buildzoid hasn't done a Asus AM5 video yet so research is going to be slow going lol).

Maybe do a "Best Tower Coolers for Ryzen 9 7950X" video? I don't see other creators actually testing if Ryzen 7000's flagship has finally made tower coolers obsolete given its high thermals being a norm rather than an outlier. Some have promised to make recommended list of coolers, but none have actually produced that kind of good content yet. As somebody looking into building with Ryzen 7000 (coming from 1000 series), I'm honestly scared to even try due to not knowing what amount of budget I need to dedicate to cooling. We prefer air-cooling here rather than water because more points of failure, more cables to manage. Funny thing is, I'm also the type of person who SPECIFICALLY gets UNWILLINGLY warned by passing fortune tellers and mystics and that sort of people--whom don't know anything about me, that I have bad luck with water. And based on how I almost died once by drowning, almost fried my keyboard and PC with water spills, and have had a room that pours water from the ceiling when it rains in the past before having my fortune forcefully told upon me at random, I'd say it's safe to say they were right. 😅 So yeah... Best coolers for 7000 series please.

@@mrdwilkster It's not that I prefer TOSlink, more that I only have one HDMI on the GPU and this particular system is going to a TV, so I have to use that HDMI 2.1 for for the TV. Since I have no open HDMI ports, TOSlink is my next best option to go to the AVR, and I'd rather not use up an open HDMI on the AVR anyways, even if I did. If you're using HDMI audio and that's working for you, no reason to change it since HDMI is technically superior since it has enough bandwidth for things like Dolby Atmos and the uncompressed audio streams.
