What’s amazing (and I’m saying this as a musician, specifically a drummer, of over 20 years) is that these dancers have clearly learned and internalized the rhythmic structure of this incredibly complex song as part of their performance in another artistic discipline altogether. Big props to them!

The music video/concept is simply an idyllic form of Worship, represented by the Dance Troupe portrayed as Monks in a monastery or whatever and how, in a unified and/or abstract manner, they express daily worship to their Master, albeit God, Buddha, a Devil or whomever. Clearly, the choreography was matched to the music -- and not the other way around. The music composition in and of itself is very highly structured and cinematic with its sweeps, tapping, syncopated cross-rhythms and lush mid-section.

The video is great. I don't see how the video is distracting. It's synced up with the music so well.

I can understand if you think the video is stupid or pretentious or just not your cup of tea, but it seems there was something more going on here. Maybe you should reflect on why this video makes you so uncomfortable.

@@rafaelpastana337 I don't think so. He was clearly being tongue and cheek when he was acting offended. I think we've all rolled our eyes over some modern art haven't we? The only serious gripe they had with the video was that it was distracting them from the very complex music, which is understandable

@@Kira-qc4qi “it means nothing. Don’t let them fool you with that shit”, “horse shit”, “try hard”… that’s not just “rolling your eyes over modern art”. Dude got offended for some reason, which is up to him, cuz none of us will be able to explain why. But if he just wanted to say “the video is distracting me from the music itself” he fucking worded that very badly. The guy on the right I can understand. He wasn’t appreciating very much the video because maybe is not his cup of tea, but he wasn’t complaining as if the dancers were doing something wrong. It’s ok to not appreciate. Ive seen loads of reacts where people don’t like the music. But what happened here, it wasn’t just that.

I know I'm late to the party, but the combination of wrong and smug is always painful to witness. You're 100% right, this dude's reaction was weirder than the video itself and he doesn't have the self-awareness to realize it. It's ok not to like the video, but he got visibly uncomfortable the moment he saw the first shirtless dude with a skirt, like he got PTSD from his childhood. "Don't let them libs try to fool you, man! These dancing shirtless dudes with skirts don't mean anything!". Nobody is trying to convince you otherwise, genius. The video isn't "random", it's clearly trying to match the dark/"disjointed" feeling that you get from the music... but OF COURSE it doesn't have an objective meaning, OF COURSE it's meant to be interpreted. You could switch this video with something else and it could have worked just fine... just like the whole song itself! We've just discovered that art isn't set in stone, folks! That's why songs have demos, films have deleted scenes and paintings have sketches. Creating art is a dynamic process of trial and error, you don't get inspiration from God and create something in one go with objective meaning... imagine being over 15 and not understanding this. Just like the artist doesn't create objective art, the audience doesn't have the ability to interpret art objectively (some interpretations are more common because most people share the same "wiring"). The way you interpret a piece usually says more about you than about the piece itself: where everyone else sees a bunch of "gimmicky" monks, you see g** dudes dancing with skirts ("sus" 3:00 ). Yeah, it's "sus", isn't it? Go and figure that out on your own. :)

@@mayodog1591 I agree. It's almost like he's unaware that the purely instrumental music without lyrics is also interpretive and does not convey an objective meaning. Somehow he's ok with that so long as the technicality and sensory excitement can be the primary focus of his interest in the music.
