The most terrifying thing about backroom is its geometry - it just makes you feel so vulnerable no matter where you try to hide, at certain places you feel secure yet simultaneously exposed. This does not sound wholesome when you brood over a possible nameless entity with a nameless purpose that might be lumbering about. There's danger lurking in every corner... I heard the labyrinth is also supposed to be massive, something like three times the size of the USA with a lone entity roaming. So, you don't know where to go, whether the direction you're heading will lead you towards the unnamed entity or away, is it better to even go instead of staying where you are... is the entity possibly just around one of the corners? You'll feel endless loneliness and desperation, to find someone or something, only to find a malicious creature that wants to harm you. The contrast from loneliness to panic would just magnify the terror.

Lost Direction on itchio is a pretty cool free-roam backrooms type game. Not exactly the same layout, but each level is procedurally generated, and there's some sort of overarching puzzle that has yet to be fully solved. No monsters in there, as far as I know, just a few spooky sounds to throw you off every once in a while. Good game if you just want to get lost for a little bit in a spooky liminal space maze that always changes and pretty much never ends.

i feel like backrooms content doesn’t focus enough on the aspect of vaguely familiar rooms that stretch on for miles, where the true horror is being stuck in this place with no chance of escape. Now, those stupid ass levels can just be pictures of some guy’s house or a random field and you’re supposed to be scared of monsters with shitty designs
@Squicx

This entire short film is legit *10000000%* better than any horror movie Hollywood can make. Even the concepts of Liminal Spaces simultaneously existing within the same realm as the backrooms makes this infinite nightmare concept more hellish and creepy knowing these things just *EXIST.* Legit every-time Hollywood takes a clever internet idea like Slender-Man, they make it generic and away from its source material that made it scary in the first place. Then you have KZitemrs like this that actually make something terrifying in under 10 minutes and it still manages to keep us entertained an interested.

While I love the series personally o feel like having the government explore the back rooms kinda undermines the horror of it. Cus to me the real horror of the back rooms isn’t just Cus it’s an unknown place, but because there’s no certain way out or into the back rooms. You clip into it and if you’re lucky you clip out of it. There shouldn’t be an organisation or a group that has a way to enter into it to explore, it should honestly be people who randomly clipped in and exploring and trying to work around the rules of the different levels the backroom has to offer, hopefully finding a way out one day
@aprilderg7241

From what I remember it is *theoretically* possible to escape the backrooms. It's true that the deeper you go the higher the chance of escape but that is really low, and there is like a few records of people escaping, but if you are skilled enough, you can keep going deeper and deeper through the thousands of levels until they become so unstable and unfinished to the point where the chance of escape alone with forcibly push you out.

There's literally no harm in it and getting upset about is incredibly pointless and quite unhealthy if you ask me. The backrooms is nothing. *Nothing.* It's a mysterious maze of rooms you enter by pure chance, there really isn't anything unknown about it regardless. Sure how you get in or even out is a mystery but that's all there is to it. By then, you'd have probably figured out there's literally nothing there. The appeal to that is 'You're in an unknown place by chance now you'll die alone' and that's it. That's the joke. Personally I find the OG backrooms boring, there is no creativity in empty rooms you can aimlessly wander. Pretty much anyone could come up with that idea, so if people want to add more to it. To give it more intrigue and mystery in their own way then let them. If you hate this stuff that much then don't bother engaging with this kind of content, complaining about it won't change anything or make people reconsider making these videos.

Lost all immersion on the 15 minute video when the street was just a gmod map that I've blasted goofy in the head with a shotgun in in the past.

There's a 1:1 copy of that map in Roblox, people use it in a lot of "scary" games, I recognized it instantly 😂

Gonna be honest, the backrooms were awesome when they started out and genuinely horrifying to read about but now it's like every entry on the wiki has "This level is the most dangerous level in the backrooms" written on it because people have just made it another "mine is the strongest" competition.

This series doesn't do that though, nothing too crazy which is pretty awesome. Well the levels part, at least.

"You just stay in the middle of the group, so that you're surrounded by a human meat shield." And then the monster jumps from a tree from up above and lands on top of you, your friends become terrified and scatter to the wind as you're screaming whilst being brutally eviscerated and killed by the creature :)

I think of the backrooms as a sort of modern day SCP substitute. it's no where near the level of the SCP universe but ppl like Kane are putting that to the test with insane quality videos. like a video of this quality on a single SCP would be crazy

It's like the same type of concept/vibe, but it's just so ambiguous that you can just project whatever you want into the concept, fear of the unknown type of thing

The backrooms is actually very similar to the SCP universe. At least if you look up the wikidot. The backrooms shown in Kane Pixels video are just of level 0. There are 999 total levels of the backrooms (similar to how there are thousands of scp). Of course it depends on which canon you follow. if you want more information on the backrooms wiki and fandom Broogli is a great youtube channel to watch.

@@johndwyer1445 the amount of "fear of the unknown" SCPs is staggering tbh

@@koderandom3004 I like the idea but the execution was horrific and its not to do with the original idea itself. The problem is that it's given too much control to the audience, in a similar vein to the SCP universe, but its just not scary. I've had a quick skim over the backrooms and I can say with full chest that there isn't a single one that comes close to the original. Go to the SCP universe and I physically cannot count how many that are better than the original and far surpass it in creativity, originality and just pure fear. That's the key difference between the 2.
