People seem pretty torn on whether the added lore makes the concept of the backrooms better or worse, and I think it's a little of both. On the one hand, it def detracts from the cosmic horror of the original post. On the other, all the expansions could allow someone to turn the backrooms into a kick-ass D&D campaign. Def gets my imagination going! Great video, man.

they're way more terrifying with the lore; because there's still so much of the backrooms we don't know; they could be infinite or so huge we'll never discover all of it so they might as well be infinite. each level brings a new kind of psychological horror we've never seen before. we still have the terror of the unknown because no matter how much of the backrooms we "discover" there's still so much we don't understand about them and probably never will. if level 0 was all there was, it would get stale, boring, and, after a while, not as scary as we find ways to survive in it. but there being more levels wherein you can get more and more lost and further from reality and go more and more insane in your lonliness and constantly running for your life is far more terrifying and interesting than being stuck in the same place that is honestly not that threatening compared to some of the other levels (there are some where you literally get ripped apart on a subatomic level if you stay there for too long) yeah level 0 has a couple scary entities but for the most part you can live there in peace. also considering all there is in this reality it would make more sense there would be more to the backrooms than just endless office space

The Backrooms has been a subject I've been interested in for a very long time. Less so with reading every bit of lore people have wrriten for it, but more so with just watching how it has changed overtime and the community developed. I have actually written an entire journal post on my analysis of the Backrooms before. For me, here's some things I would personally add to the Backrooms iceberg: *Strange numbering scheme:* Having the first level of the Backrooms be "level 0" doesn't make sense if you think about it. If you are on the 0th level of the Backrooms, then that should mean that you aren't yet in the Backrooms in the same way being on stage 0 of cancer means that you do not have cancer. However, it does make sense if you view it as a measure of altitude, where "level 0" means you are above ground, level 1 means you are in the first below ground level, level 2 means you are on the second below ground level, etc. This implies that the people who first came up with the idea of the Backrooms having multiple levels just wanted them to be different floors of the Backrooms, and later on that got eroded into having them be different dimensions instead. *Step in original image and missing verticality:* If you look really carefully on the left side of the original Backrooms image, there is a single staircase step that is visible. This implies there is verticality and 3rd dimensional movement in the level, with some rooms being higher up then others. Yet in every single adaptation of the Backrooms into video games, they instead make level 0 be totally flat and without this verticality. *Unknown wallpaper:* People struggle to find the Wallpaper that was included in the original backrooms image. *You never truly left:* The idea that those who leave the backrooms have their perception of reality irrevocably altered, and are left wondering if they truly got out or are on just another level of the backrooms. This gets dropped in some interpretations as some flat out say you cannot escape the Backrooms. *SCPRooms:* The Backrooms gradually losing what made it unique and becoming more and more like SCPs as time went on. *SCP-3008:* An SCP which predates the Backrooms. Modern Backrooms lore resembles this moreso then the original image and copypasta, suggesting this was an inspiration for many modern writers. *Arbitrary numbering:* For the first 10 or so levels of the backrooms, they have a way to enter the next level of the backrooms inside of them. But as you go to higher numbers, it starts breaking apart as there are levels which cannot be accessed by the level numerically before it, creating a situation where there is no longer a reason for the levels to be ordered in the ways they are.

I've heard one of the theories involving the room numbers simply being relative. Like "0" is just the closest level of the Backrooms that has a similar "wavelength" to reality (i.e. The Frontrooms). And since we're from the "frontrooms", the numbering system is just treating the Frontrooms as yet another aspect of the Backrooms and the level number is kind of like an FM Radio signal for dimensions.

I don't know why, but I find Jerry to be cute and hilarious. In a endless world of deformed humans and concrete, a blue bird with powers who gets worshiped by lost people is just out of the blue. Pun intended. Besides I love birds, so I love this rather silly addition to the backrooms.

I like to think the Backrooms exist in the SCP universe and the foundation is aware of them but all they can do is contain known entrances. Unfortunately, they can’t do anything about the no-clipping issue.

I think even the SCP Foundation will struggle to try to contain or map the Backrooms.
@patchwurk6652
Ай бұрын
@@0_dearghealach_083 Well that's kind of the bonus of the Backrooms. It's fairly easy to "contain" since all cross-overs with reality are one-way. You can enter the Backrooms, but no one ever leaves. From the SCP foundations standpoint "containment" is just "finding a breach" and trying to prevent people crossing it.

To be honest, I just prefer liminal spaces as eerie, empty, and unknown places that are meant to evoke fear, nostalgia, and other feelings. I'm okay with this whole concept of survival horror and monsters being in the backrooms. I also like there being different levels. I even favor the idea of backrooms/liminal spaces being an extremely large or infinite dimension being made up of random rooms and such (that's actually quite similar to an idea of mine). However, I feel like too much is being added into something that's supposed to be desolate and unknown. Anyway, this was a well-made video. And you certainly do have a passion for making these kinds of videos. I look forward to part 3 of the creepypasta island.

Absolute masterpiece of a video. I’ve watched this 5 times lol. The way you explain everything as though you are actually there and have experienced the backrooms before if that’s encountering one of the entities, witnessed somebody drink liquid pain or have been to these levels makes this video and the entirety of the backrooms even more terrifying than it already is. I’m so glad you are taking this info from the backrooms Wiki. I love this version WAY more than the other “found footage” version with the random squiggly stick monster thing. I’d also love to mention the editing. The sound and music choices make this even more fun to watch. All of the music gives off a creepy, eerie vibe that adds to the experience. I love how you didn’t use the typical Iceburg format, choosing a random entry to talk about, then quickly moving to the next but instead explaining everything in great detail, like I’m listening to a really good audio book. I probably could have wrote this comment better, I’m not that good a writer haha. Overall, I loved this video! Keep up the amazing work.

A thing that just hit me.... If sleep isn't required... why is food? Sleep is more than just re-organizing the processes in the mind, it's also a restoration of physical capabilities. We do a lot of body maintenance in our sleep... so since it's not required.. the body isn't really degrading then.. so if it's not degrading it isn't sucking up or expending energy.. so why do we need food? P.S. 45:00 Ah... that's why.

I feel like part of the thing that made the backrooms scary was the mystery and not knowing what you'll find. When people add communities, factions and other people in general, it goes from this mysterious story to some weird fanfic. Good concept, bad excecution, feels like it tried to do a mystery flesh pit sorta thing
@notlurking2128

I was just thinking it reminded me alot of Mystery Flesh pit, only MFP was a story with a solid concept and clear moral and the backrooms seems like it's a little all over the place with different people seeing different things in it. @pumpkinp1e489
2 жыл бұрын
I mean..in reality if it existed there WOULD be factions made up, because humans cling to each other for survival. I personally don't mind it as you still have to go through hell in many levels, and the mystery part is still there for me as we don't know how many rooms there are or which we'll walk into next as it's randomized.

I really loved the concept of the backrooms. But now that there is so much lore I am not too much into it. I liked the idea back then of just no cipping and there were the original 3 levels and that is it. The hope of getting out, the idea of being able to escape but having to go through all 3 of these levels with a lot of entities not knowing what they are was far better. Especially the idea that people actually somehow built a life in the backrooms and that there are fractions makes it a lot less scary. The idea of just 3 levels, u alone with load of monsters and the hope of being able to escape was fantastic to me...
