Thanks for putting this series together. It's interesting to learn the backstories of representatives who I never heard of, because they aren't from my state. I am impressed by the diversity of the House of Representatives and hope it continues into the Senate as well. I can relate to Marilyn Strickland's experience, with people wondering which parent is white, even though both are Taiwanese, and having been born in the USA. It's an inspiration to see minorities rise in government, even though I am in the private sector.

I am black and among black peoples being discriminated against because of my accent and my geographical origin! It’s hard but I endure because I know that there is a season for everything and that this too shall end!

I am black yet black people continue discrimination among each other based on accent and geographical location. I speak and am ignored by my black coworkers and am given the worst assignments, I suffer and endure because I know that there is a season for everything under the sun and this too shall end!

When you talk about discrimination among blacks as a black person it is looked upon as a clownish complaint, but it is real! Jamaican blacks hate Haitian blacks, hate Barbadian blacks and so on and so forth. To simplify this conundrum , black West Indians discriminate among each other favoring geographical locations and accents and giving promotion and status only to persons from a specific location depending on who is in charge of the business. No one wants the world to know that this discrimination exists and so people are ill treated and they never complain because it is so ludicrous that one black person could hate the other based on their origins! LOL

We need to replace all whites in congress, president, senate & Supreme Court with people of color. It should be against the law for white people to serve in government.

We are one race...and as we slowly inter marry colour we be very eclectic...although white, first generation Canadian,a man told my husband that, I wasn’t a true Latvian, wow, if my father was alive he would have lost it. The only thing he showed me was his weak ignorance....when people say things like your not a sister, it is a person that is trying to push you down......we need to lift one another up.......words hurt.....ignorance happens.....
