Im new to this and ive been wondering recently about barlows and eyepieces and what u can do with them. My question is if I have a 400FL scope and I use 2x barlow with a 10mm stock eyepiece which gets 80x, what would happen if I instead use a 5x barlow and a 25mm eyepiece to achieve the same 80x as before. Would I get a better view? More eyerelief? Will it get too dim? I also understand this has to do a lot with what I want to look at for now Im mainly focused on the moon planets and constellations no deep space... for now :) Edit: also my scope is an 80mm travel scope for beginner purposes

Those are great questions, they can all be answered by installing the program stellarium on your computer and playing what if scenarios just as you've described. The way to do this is to go to the tools section on the upper right, after installing and opening stellarium. There you will be able to define as many telescope types and eyepieces and binoculars as you wish. You can then test what if scenarios which can answer questions such as the one that you've asked. I hope that this helps.

I hate the fact the higher the magnifacation the darker the image and the focus is worse

do you know anything about light seems not. It's the same with binoculars, rifle scopes and other glass viewing instruments.Back of on the power to mid range eyepieces from 11 to 26 .don't forget your exit pupil.Take your eyepiece FL and divide it by your F/ratio thats your exit pupil.Between 7 and 1 exit pupil if your still under 40 yrs old and 5 or 6 EP over 50 yrs old. OR just go buy a bigger scope 8 in or bigger problem solved. good luck David FROM The N.C, Geeezz

You only need to wear glasses when looking through a telescope if you have astigmatism. I have pretty bad myopia (short sightedness) and I never wear glasses when observing through a scope.

Hi Alien Tech, Thank you so much for this short video. I turned 21 Last week and my whole familie and friends gifted me a skywatcher heritage viruoso 150p. I am very exited to use it and your video helped me understand alot about the eyepieces I get with the telescope. This also helpes me decide which eyepieces I can buy for the forseing future. Thank you!

@Alien Tech yep agreed, I have just purchased a Celestron Inspire 100AZ scope, and upgraded the eye pieces to a SVBony gold banded 15mm ultra wide 66 degree, and a Celestron Omni 2x Barlow lens.

It is a bit “technical” when 99% of us want a more chill explanation
