Hi Tommy, Wow after listening to a lot of other videos that have been helpful - Yours was the best - You were precise - and you showed each part of the stroke with a clear body dance as well as a good choice of words with instructions - That will be my mantra while I continue to learn.... Set Up - Catch - Pull Phase - Exit - Recovery - Ace Sup'er Here I come! Thanks again.

I was never taught the "Pull" phase like you taught it, but I've always paddled that way... Like planting a flag pole and pulling my craft to it...but never have I heard anyone instruct that way. Fantastic to see this video. Share more!!

Just got back from the lake, first time out after finding this video. YESSSSSS! As a beginner living in SUP diaspora, (no teacher within 300 km), I watched A TON of videos to learn - this is the most useful! All the position details I needed. Even a private lesson with some world cup athlete in SUP mecca Sayulita didn't give me that much useful information. Well done, and THANKS from Lake Chapala, Mexico.

Bought a board last week- went out for first time (after watching Blueplanet's top ten tips) Lake Mead 20mph wind - got up the second attempt - managed half a mile downwind! WWWWAAAYYY HEEEEYY :)) Cannot wait to implement to gold you have given me here- thanks bro- If ever you are in Vegas stop by for a thank you painting mate- Top man Tommy x

Great video. This really helped my technique. I have been kayaking for years and recently started SUP and never considered how similar the strokes are.

As a fellow kayak enthusiast I cannot agree more. There are many differences but also many similarities, and you just know after watching this video that this just *must* be correct :) I'll try some more boarding tomorrow. HKV is one of the few kayaking *and* SUP clubs in NL, so I'll be taking one of the two club boards out there tomorrow.

Me too. coming from years of Canoeing then Kayaking. Good technique carried over well. Couple of new paddle tricks I learned that are "SUP" only moves.

Usually epoxy blank/core and epoxy glass. Keeps them light in weight
