i'm a san miguel fan, but im a big fan of yours as well sir...My high school days were so fun remembering your games with san miguel, and every break time at school we always talk about your duel with danny ildefonso..you were a dominant big man during those days sir and i always feel really bad especially when you take over and make those shots against san miguel on crucial moments because i'll lose my bet haha

Yo, bro. Not sure what you’ve been up to. But your basketball understanding/analytics are BADLY needed right now. You should keep up with these videos. Looking to hear/watch more from you

Nice and informative. I have a question, is per 100 possession relevant in terms of actual game scenario. I know why they put 100 possession so there is a constant baseline of these statistics or denominators. If Team A has a slow offensive phase and will only have 80 possession and shoot 50% in two points then their score is 80 pts. Compare that to Team B who has 100 possession with 50% 2FG will score 100 pts. Team A then needs to shoot 62.5% 2FG to match the Team B pts output. With this stat Team A will be a better team in this term than Team B, 125 vs 100. But in reality, Team A will have to shoot a very high clip to match Team B.

Zai Rex thanks for the question. There are a lot of factors to be considered..... turnovers & offensive rebounds effect number of possessions, as does pace. There are usually 80-90 possessions in a modern 40 minute game. In a 48 minute NBA game there are usually 95-105 possessions. Per 100 possessions is used to show how efficient a teams offense is and the value of certain shots if everybody has the same number of possessions. 100 is a nice even number. It’s easy to calculate the math with and is close to the number of possessions per game.... In your scenario, Team A lost the possession game, which is important to win, so they have to shoot much better to keep up with Team B. The bigger the gap is & 12.5% is a big gap, the less likely Team A will be able to shoot that well & if for some reason they are able to do it once, it will be difficult to consistently do. I hope this helps and answers your question......

@@TheEMenk30 I appreciate your response. The consistent efficiency is also my point in my inquiry. Similarly to your view, It's hard to maintain 62.5%. The point I am making is that analytics thou a good guide might be misleading because we need to bring the competition in numbers. The 100 per possession is used to rank players or teams and have equal putting as different teams have a different pace. In my scenario, is it right that Team A has better points per 100 possession that Team B? Will this kind of stat might mislead a team in thinking they better than Team B even if the reality that Team B might be better? Also, fans might misinterpret it. I know there is a complex formula for points per possession which includes offensive rebounds, turnovers (POSSt = FGAt + 0.44 × FTAt - OREBt + TO) which is more accurate for me. But per 100 possession is still popular stat.

What do you think about the Houston Rockets model where they took away the center position? I am a big fan of Harden and Westbrook because they are fun to watch and play with passion. D Antoni has always been offensive minded but what was his point in having a line up of guards. Their biggest players were Jeff Green and Carroll. Is sacrificing rebounds a good trade off? Personally I love it because it looks fun but I never understood why they even decided to do something this radical. Stay Safe and I hope your channel and all your endeavors the best.

TheJacqueswong interesting experiment by Houston. You’re right, it was fun. Gave them more shooting, space and seemed to unlock Westbrook. Could extreme small ball work in the playoffs? I doubt it, but it would have been fun to find out. Thanks for watching
