Having previous played Warwick's for 15 years I got used to the Dunlop locks.... now it's the first mod I do to a new bass, all my straps have locks on. I have a number of nylon 3" wide Levy's straps, one of which is about 20 years old. and it still works perfectly. Nothing but good things to say about the Levy's product.

I have just bought a new squier classic vibe 60s jazz bass following your previous review. Currently using washers from grolsch bottles as strap locks with is even cheaper than the fender ones you mentioned and had the bonus of coming with beer. Have you considered doing videos on set up? The idea of taking the bass to a professional seems way off with lockdown so a video showing this would be great

Heya Steve! A setup video can definitely be done and sounds like a good idea. Just trying to work out the best way to film it, and then it will be done! T

I just tried using the beer locks on my Epiphone SG. They're perfect for the weird back side strap button. And they're surprisingly reliable. I'd like to see if rubber gaskets from similar beer bottles do the trick.

I can't thank you enough for this very informative video and your approach to your viewers is outstanding! I think I will go for Comfort Strapp. Hope it will help me play my bass much longer. Once again many thanks. You are doing a great job.

No problem at all! If it wasn’t for you guys there would be no point in me making these videos, so I’ve got to thank you! I hope the comfort strap helps out, it is a very soft and comfortable strap. Let me know how you get on with it! T

The rubber Fender straplocks are the same rubber which are on those vintage style beer bottles (Bügelflaschen) here in Germany. So you drink some beer out of these bottles and you get a straplock for free ;)

Straps: I also think that the Comfort Strapp is pretty good. But I find the Mono Betty Strap to be the best for bass! I have 4 of those, and I am still impressed by them. Strap locks: I also think the Dunlop Dual Design is the best, and I also had issues with the Schaller - when using it for a long period of time, there is black dust generating because of the friction of the two parts. Also, you can get the Fender type rubber washer strap locks from any bottle of Grolsch beer!

06:40 wide strap for better weight distribution.Custom shop p bass, how do you like it?? 17:15 use a drop of white glue on the nut to secure it, white glue can be easily be broken to undo the seal. I'm looking at the LOXX strap locks, will try it soon.

I've been planning to fit those the strap locks to most of my guitars but the strap blocks would cost a fraction of what the locks would. I might just put the locks on my favourite guitar and use the blocks on the rest. By the way is Sadowsky a Polish company? My wife's Polish and she overheard the name mentioned in the video. She says it's pronounced "Sad-off-ski" though. Another great vid, Tyler.

Sounds like a good way to go! American! I used to say “Sad-off-ski” too, but have shifted to Roger Sadowsky’s own pronunciation. He’s based in Brooklyn, NY, and I had the pleasure of meeting him and visiting the shop just before everything kicked off! Thank you for watching and supporting the channel, it’s much appreciated! T

I tend to use schallers, and have done for about 30 years. I even have the original set I bought in 1992 - still working perfectly. A word of caution though, DON'T buy "schaller style" locks - they're made of cheap metal and have a nasty habit of breaking. The Fender rings are also good, cheap, easy to use and reasonably secure as long as you don't try throwing the bass over your shoulder. The only issue is that if you have a very thick strap it can be difficult to fit the ring over the strap button. Just my thoughts on this.

Thank you for the story of the heavy burden of choosing a bass guitar strap. But this is a really serious matter. It’s a pity not only the guitar that can fall, but also the back, which can break ... :))) Good luck and good health! Take care of yourself. Sincerely, Alexander.

I use the Neotech strap, kinda bouncy and great for taking the weight out of heavy basses. It is exactly the same design and appearance as your Sadowsky neoprene strap down to the last detail , so I'm guessing they make em for Sadowsky too.

Dunlop straps are actually super simple to remove from the strap. Just stick a small flathead in the groove of the little locking clip and it slips right off of the strap. Much easier than it looks. That being said, not a huge fan of these locks. They make the strap sit fairly far from the bass.

Hey Tyler, great video. A good strap makes a huge difference in playing. There's nothing worse than your bass trying to get away from you. I splurged and got a Scott's bass lessons strap. It's about 3 inches or so wide, and very comfy. I use schaeller locks. I might switch to Dunlops though cause it was a real bitch getting the lock on the bottom of the strap that goes nearest the bridge. The leather is quite thick, and not many threads on the lock. I made it fit but just barely. There's my 2 cents. Cheers from Canada. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

This was exactly my problem with the Schallers. I really struggled to get that bridge end strap lock off safely. Those Scott’s BL straps definitely look great! T

The newer style of schaller have a longer thread to avoid this. Sadly you can't use the new style lock with the old style button.

@@TylerSpicer Look for the S type schallers - they have 6.6mm thread instead of 3.3mm. Mind you they're not cheap at about £20 a pop.
