Brian taught Carl how to sing harmonies. For Brian it was all in his head, he just needed a band to explore his ideas. This era of the Beach Boys had lost some of its energy without Denis on the drums. Carl was literally keeping the band together and within a year the mega hit Kokomo is released.

I was at an Eagles concert at the Forum, just after it was remodeled when Glenn Frey was still with them. The tour was called The History of the Eagles. Glenn Frey was the spokesman for them at the time He said to the crowd, "How many of you are Beach Boys fans?" I am screaming Yes! Me! Glenn Frey then said "They were the pioneers, we are the settlers. " Such an iconic moment! Love them both!

Because your undermining the need/importance for Carls lead in absence of Brian here. Carl literally held the group together.. Back then the standard/caliber of the show, was INDEED on Carl's shoulders. He was the best, most well rounded singer in the group, and im sure Brian would've agreed to that as well. Therefore when Carl was still alive, especially at this time, he WAS the BBs. Every great group has a lead, doesn't take away from all the players. Rest easy, Carl 🕊️

Gran documento!!

I was a Chicago kid from a broken home. My dad moved to California at one point. I got to feel the California experience. This is so wonderfully nostalgic for me.

Love the Beach boys and have for over 55 years however, this would by far be the most atrocious singing by Mike Love I have ever had the displeasure of listening to. Unfortunately Mike ruined every song he participated in and I have no idea if it was a peg or something else that found it's way up his nose ........ fortunately it did improve in the years to follow !!!

It is a great shame that the Beach boys "brand" is not in the hands of any of the Wilson brothers. 😢 And especially Brian, as the most prominent musician and hit writer of his time, should own the rights to the band. At least according to me.

Al looks younger here than he did throughout the '70's. He lost the beard and started wearing fairly up-to-date clothing for the first time in years.
