Carl always been the "quiet" Beach Boy compared to Brian, Dennis and Mike. But he was an incredible musical talent. He passed way too soon.
@smarkmalark

Seriously why did the only other two most important beach boys besides Brian have to be the ones to go first. It’s sad to think Mike being the final living member is a possibility. The brothers are what made the band, and all three of them left the biggest impact, even Dennis left a huge impact and honestly i think he deserves his own biopic. Their modern live shows are an actual travesty without Carls beautiful voice and denny’s fun to watch crazy unconventional drumming. Now it’s just creepy egomaniac mike, a supposedly dickish bruce johnston, and a miserable brian. At least Al is still keeping his shit together and helping brian but it’s sad.

@@smarkmalarkI started to appreciate the band recently, and I'm in love with it. I see that many musicians in the world were inspired by your songs, harmonies... But I don't understand why they called him into the group, it could have just been the 3 brothers and backing musicians

Quality band and tune, i believe Carl was only 21 when he first sung this on the wild honey album. As for Mike Love, i made something in defence of him, in good humour, to see it, simply just type in the following title to search.......In defence of Mike Love

@@smarkmalarkI disagree about Mike being an anchor or detriment to their sound in any way. His sneering baritone made a lot of The Beach Boys sound. He sang freaking Surfin’ USA, along with many others. Blink 182 made their career doing a Mike Love impression. I understand people’s issues with him turning The Beach Boys into the festival circuit band they are now, but Brian is still alive and a voting member of the band, he gave Mike the keys and his blessings. Mike EARNED his position, and didn’t get it until the true leader, Carl, passed, at least 30 years into their run. He’s a weird guy. And so were/are the rest of The Beach Boys. Dennis was a cult guy and friend of Charles Manson ffs. Drug problems all around, Mike kept it together. He and Bruce have at least tens of millions in the bank account, they have no need to tour, they just like it. They lived being beach boys, and they’re going to die doing it. Good for them in my book.

The most chilling (in a good way) moment was when they came to the slow, sweet part in "Wouldn't It Be Nice" - "you know it seems the more we talk about about it" - a half a million people suddenly fell silent so they could listen closely to those sweet vocal harmonies.
