In the early days the Beatles, many times used words like birds and blue to describe a young person's emotions. PM eg. "Birds sing out of tune and raindrops hide the moon", JL eg "Oh dear what can I do, baby's in black and I'm feelin' blue".

John Lennon wrote this song. The Beatles Mgr. Brian Epstein, by this time, was now Manging multiple Bands, and he was always looking for some material for them. So John, as a favor to Brian Epstein, gave this song up for "Billy J. Kramer and The Dakotas" to record. Naturally, it was a hit for The Dakotas. This is a great song musically, with great chord changes, and that typical Lennon augmented-chord (B+) for around that time period.

😍 EDIT: I fell in love with a girl two and a half years ago, and this song was ‘our song’. She broke up with me just the other day, the pain is unbearable and I feel so empty and alone without her. I know she changed all of a sudden but I’d give anything to go back to 2018, back to how everything was. I wish I knew at the time that those times would be the best times of my life. I don’t know what to do now, I don’t know where to go and I don’t know what to say. I distract myself by spending most of my time with friends, but the minute I get into bed at night and I’m all alone it hits me like a rock. The breakup isn’t even the hardest part, it’s all the memories that I have to say goodbye to in order to move on. She was my first kiss, the first person I ever loved and felt loved by. I still love her and I still need her, I just wish it was a two-way-thing. It breaks my heart to see her so happy without me, I don’t know what I did. I never thought this day would come, I can’t bear living without her. She was all I had, and I gave her all I had to give. I cannot believe she doesn’t love me anymore, I’m in denial, it can’t be true this can’t be happening. I’m so lost, and I’m so close to giving up.

De hecho! También he pensando mucho en eso, porque si te fijas hay muchas canciones en su discografia que prácticamente se podrían considerar boleros: if i fell, do You want to Know a secret, PS I love You, and i love her, yesterday, ask me why, i Will, till there was You (cover) y algunas otras, bastantes de hecho.

It's incredible that in those days you wrote a song and the record company owned the rights to it. That is absolutely criminal. When Michael Jackson bought The Beatles back catalogue despite all the number ones Paul had and despite only trying to raise half the money he could not afford to even bid. It shows how much The Beatles were screwed over. Not once either. Despite the fame and the chance to own their later music, they got screwed again. If Paul did a new recording of songs he wrote he'd have to get permission to do it.
