@@Todoke_Kujo From what I can find, Paul McCartney wrote the melody to it in his early 20s(so early-mid 60s), and the lyrics came a few years later in 1965 or 1966, not long before it was released on the album "Revolver" in 66. 23-24 isn't horribly young, but the original commenter's username has "6752" in it; if this is June 7, 1952(or 6th of July, 1952), he'd be 71 years old right now. Maybe 23-24 is "just a kid" to him.

@@Todoke_Kujo ; Paul is a genius; he was only 24 when he wrote this song. He was 24, not 44; how can you be so mature at such a young age; Paul was only 24 years old when he released this song. Eleanor Rugby remains the saddest song in human history. You're a genius Paul, that's all. Amen

Franz Schubert came up with century-defining song Erlkönig at 17. Sure McCartney was great master but no one is Schubert

The saddest song in the history of humanity. No sad song is worth Eleanor Rigby and no sad song will be worth Eleanor Rigby, until the end of time. When I think that Paul was only 24 when he wrote this song; I wonder how a child of only 24 years old can be so mature. Paul Mc Cartney is a genius; that's all. Amen; Amen
