I heard somewhere that the lyrics for “and your bird can sing” were a dig at Frank Sinatra, who sometimes referred to his man part as his Bird. There was a bit of a back and forth between the Beatles and Sinatra at the time.

The genius of the loops is that they were all cut to the same length to maintain the rhythm. Some were played at different speeds, but as the speeds were multiples or divisions of 7.5 inches per second, they still had a distinct beat to them. That’s the true influence of George Martin.

I’m 59 and was 4 when Abbey Road came out. I’ve seen in recent years that Revolvers status has leaped forward, a lot saying it’s their best album. For me though, I feel their top 3 are Abbey Road, white album and Sgt Pepper, in that order. I think Revolver might then be 4th. It’s a great album and great innovation for the time, especially “tomorrow never knows”- but I don’t think it reaches the level of the others. Songs like “love you to” and “good day sunshine” bring it down for me. Plus I have always had an issue with the running order. On a personal level, for sentimental reasons, I would also play “Let it be” and “Magical Mystery Tour” before Revolver.

35:25 I think you are confusing the solo for piccolo in Penny Lane with the french Horn in For No One.

I think the Anthology book and Geoff Emerick's memoir both mention how the high F note was out of Alan Civil's range on "For No One," but maybe he did the same thing to David Mason on "Penny Lane" - "Hey, it worked for Alan..." haha. Thanks for listening!

@@TooMuchInformationPod Yeah! Lol, non wonder! Apparently the Beatles once asked Magic Alex to create a "magnetic force to isolated the drums sounds" in the studio ... and, ironically Alex said it could be done ... talking about weird requests.
