In light of recent controversies I wanted to talk about something that has been on my mind for a while- the "beauty community", beauty influencers and how brands use beauty influncers to reach massive profits. It seems there is a lot of manipulation going on here, and a lot of encouragement of excessive consumerism. I think it has had detrimental effects on (mainly our bank accounts) and has turned a community once built around feeling confident and "playing with makeup" into an industry of drama, profits, and competition.
