They never ever were a "disco" group and)or wrote "disco" songs, they don`t like this "label" disco, They wrote R&B, Pop, lovesongs, ballads. The disco stuff only is maybe 5% of their music, but most people denote them as a disco group and they hate this !

You do a great Barry Uh hUH huh. What I love about this song is the DRAMA and the arrangment. To the latter, what people today don't realize about music in this ear is that, not only are brothers not autotuned and all that but ALL the instrumentation is live, in the studio recording. We're talking a full string section expertly arranged and thos horns with the syncopation during the chorus... all of that real players live. Nowadays, it's one keyboardist playing samples of that. It can still sound great but back then, they had to work so hard to get that sound, they take the time to nail it. Very musical in a way that feels lost today.

This wasn’t actually disco. Believe or not and I’m not trying to step on toes with this statement. Disco came out of black and gay underground clubs in Philly/Jersey/NYC. The father of disco is Earl Young who is the drummer on all of the Gamble & Huff classics, as well as a founding member of the Trammps(Disco Inferno). The Bee Gees wrote a lot of there stuff without that genre in mind. Because the industry started trying to match the “disco era” with The Bee Gees sound people now think they along with Chic were disco. Donna Summer, KC & the Sunshine band and of course the Village People really fell more into that category…

This was The Bee Gees last big radio/record company promoted hit. Near the end of real MTV. Barry Gibb made that explosion noice with his mouth, I recently found out. There is never anything such as too much disco when it came to the Gibb brothers, and my own love of them, and disco. The second big era fir the boys. I do like their newer chapter they had. Sadly only Barry left now. Robin could really sing really high. Maurice even higher, but that guy the unsung hero, was a musical genius.

This is actually one of my favorite BeeGees songs. I think it's very danceable, but not every song you can dance to and has a beat is necessarily "Disco" or we could still be calling thousands of songs released every day "Disco", and maybe it is...but who cares? It's so well crafted and well sung and makes you want to move, who cares what you call it? I don't get why people still attach such a terrible meaning to the word "Disco". It just means dance music.

I hear you Empress, I think in the big picture you're right and that's probably why no one had requested it yet. It's good, as you said, but maybe not in the top tier of Bee Gees songs. I like the melody in the chorus a lot, it's kind of unexpected and it reaches a nice resolution. I think mainly I just wanted you to hear a good, new-to-you Bee Gees song, so mission accomplished! 🥰

***BEE GEES TRIVIA TIME!!*** ...It's a tragedy...(4:26) ...People think this is DISCO... ...This tune, was a VERY important tune for the Brothers Gibb; they became the Godfathers of DISCO with the "SNF" Soundtrack, but they also had their pulse on what was happening in the Pop landscape.... - ...this tune had sound effects, synths, blaring horns, and elements of *COUNTRY* music, which was crossing over into Pop at the time, with Kenny, Dolly, Tammy, Barbara Mandrell, Conway, Eddie, Crystal, Anne Murray, etc. ... - ...this tune hit #1 Pop, and when the next single from the LP, "Love You Inside Out", hit #1 (May 1979), the Bee Gees had a streak of SEVEN #1's, a record they still hold, to this Day... ...they had a 2 LP Greatest Hits later that Year, and entered the 80's on shaky ground, and lost 70% of their DISCO audience, after the July12, 1979 "Disco Demolition"...which, was a TRAGEDY.... (4:58)

Agreed Empress, it's fire but not Top 5 Bee Gees fire, still a big hit for them though as it peaked at #1 both in the UK and USA. It's from their '79 LP "Spirits Having Flown" which also includes Love You Inside Out that you mentioned, which I consider one of their best ever and I know you do too ( here's the proof: kzitem.info/news/bejne/2nht25elnXt_hX4 ). The first 3 tracks on that album are this one (Tragedy), Too Much Heaven, and Love You Inside Out -- not a bad way to kick it off! 😎

Not a bad song at all, just not my favorite by The Bee Gees. It seems overproduced to me. Usually it's their vocals that stand out, but this time the voices get lost in the music.
