As a German I can say that we don't usually drink beer for breakfast. Only on rare occasions when you have to make sure, that you're not becoming sober from the night before 😅

Seconded from another German. Beer for breakfast is a no-no, unless you need to recover from a nasty hangover. Completely acceptable to have a beer with your lunch tho. Also, for a properly sized Bratwurst, you need to travel north, to the state of Thuringia.

Bavarian here, we usually don’t drink beer for breakfast, that’s some special kind of pre lunch/breakfast thing which will especially combined with the Weißwurst. It’s called Frühshoppen (früh means early or roughly translated morning), and there you drink beer. The fun fact about Frühshoppen and the early beer drinking is, 100 years ago, without cooling/fridges, the Weißwurst would turn bad after 12 o’clock, because there were so freshly made in the morning and so you must order them very early bevor like we bavarians say, the sausage hears the 12 o’clock bell from the churchtower. Then you know they were fresh. And that counts till today, of course without turning bad, now it’s just tradition. Prost.

I brought my bright yellow, fat-tubed Crack-N-Fail SM500 to Germany in '87 for the summer before most Germans had even seen a mountain bike. SO glad I had it to ride to work and explore my area. So much fun. But the Germans were a bit wary of the whole mountain bike idea. "Was ist DAS???" But after a few years, boy did they take to them!

"How are you even still?!". The other guy drinking down a bottle of caffeinated flowing sugar... :P Drinking beer for breakfast is just one of those things in a stereotype that have no daily basis in reality. Yes Germans do drink a lot of beer, especially in the South and you better not make any remarks about it. I once almost witnessed the start of a 'civil war' between the northern Germans and the southern ones at the diner table when the guy from Niedersachen asked the Bayer why he drank so much beer. He got really mad. I am Dutch by the way.

Of course we Germans do not drink alcohol at or shortly after breakfast. Only at very rare situations like Schützenfest, Father's Day, Mother's Day, Kirmes, Dorffest (but there are only about 10 per village in a year), 1st May, 1st January, Pfingsten ... I'm sure I missed some. 😂 I would also strongly recommend to see some other places in Germany. I am from North Rhine Westphalia, it's completely different to Bavaria and we have a very active MTB community here. Not that amount of high mountains but nice tracks nevertheless.
