To help your braid pattern disappear, when you are retightening wrap the fuzzies:loose hair around the braid. It defuzzes your hair and the loose hair will sort of loc around the braid. Also congratulations on first successive wash day. Ain't it the greatest! Only thing is as your hair thickens it will take longer to dry. I would suggest blow drying your roots when it is cold. And don't sleep on wet hair. Wash in the morning. Bad bad things happen when you sleep on wet locks.

Oonagh72 this was uber helpful! Thank you!! I know exactly what you mean about the loose hair.. my edges have a lot of shorter pieces and I'm trying to figure out what to do with them, since they won't stay in the braid anymore. If I wrap them, should that be before or after I've interlocked? Thanks again!
@Oonagh72

Embrace the fuzzies in the edges. They mean you still have edges 😂. However wrap the loose hair before interlocking. I use a needle and thread to thread the the loose end in after I wrap it. If I can find the video where I learned it I will link it.

Oonagh72 ouu, appreciate it. I don't know if I'd try it, but I'd definitely like to see how they used thread. That's true. Should be grateful for my edges 😝😝

Very pretty. I have Sisterlocks, but the more I see braidlocks, the more I like them. I always wore my hair braided with extensions, so it's just really refreshing to see natural hair with no extensions in microbraids. It's like a new revelation of how our hair is good enough just as it is.

No tears. The more I see braidlocks, the more they make sense to me. They just feel right in that deep black girls wear braids, black girls learn how to braid very young (at least I did), braids are us. So from that perspective, I love the idea of them. Braidlocks are both timeless and new. There's something perfect about that.

Get you a Spray Bottle. put Rosewater and vitamin E oil on it. Spray it on your ends. Or get in the shower and let your ends only get wet. This is how you can get curly ends.

Congratulations on your journey. I have my natural curls at the ends of my locs, to keep your curls you need to pull on them or play with them as muck as possible. I some time use a pin to pull out the hair if it start to matt-up at the end. Most people says my locs don't look real because I have curls at the end.....I love it!
@dmcox_

Shernette Gayle thank you so much! I've never thought of the pin idea, super smart. I'l been pulling at them a lot, and thought I'd use a brush in the shower or something when they seemed to look like they were losing their curl. I like the pin option though, more control 👍🏾

dmcmtl lol I'm excited about that! For now I've just been playing with the ends when I notice them bunch up I just stretch it out and add some moisture. A friend of mine who has been locked most of his life told me to just comb out the ends whenever they start to loc up too tight. I'm worried about when the hair on the ends become too dry or split and begin to break off.
@dmcox_

Noelle Anais yass girl 😝😁 I like that idea, I was thinking of doing the same but with a bristle brush, but I do know what you mean about worrying about the ends breaking off. Hmm I'll try it out as it comes lol - worse case I'll have curls on most but maybe not on all? Ahaha

Yay! Congratulations on your new journey. I started about 6 months ago for the same reasons as you. I like you're Idea of leaving the sides out, I should do that, my hair is super fine on the sides and the braids slipped out now they are just long pieces that are kinked on the ends and roots but loose in the middle. I'm definitely subscribing to keep up on your journey! You're so adorable and fun to watch.

Congratulations on your loc journey! I started braidlocs on thanksgiving of last year and i absolutely love my hair. From the research I've done so far our curly q ends are going to stay loose for majority of the locing process. Mireille Liong on youtube has had her braidlocs in for well over 3 years and she still have her loose ends. I believe that when the entire loc actually locs and the braid pattern disappears depending on the hair type, the curls will either fall off on its own Or we can decide to trim them ourselves.

dmcmtl Rose water should be your best friend! We don't need to add a lot of products in our hair because it'll cause build up. So try water base products if any. I add a few drops of jojoba oil or vitamin e oil in my Rose water and spray my hair every other day or whenever It feels dry. Oh and when I was a loose natural I bought one of those huge head and shoulders shampoo bottles with the pump. Since I'm not buying any new shampoo anytime time soon and I know head and shoulders is really creamy. I add a few pumps in a spray bottle and dilute the rest of the bottle with water. Spray my scalp on wash days and it gives a really nice lather. Easiest way ever
