There is no other workout, piece of equipment or anything that has more return on investment than rings. And rings carry over to everything but legs but years of barbell work does not carry over to rings. It’s a humbling experience but easily adaptable to and it gains more eyes.

Definitely agree. All the more eyes will be on you once you start doing an iron cross. I’m not saying I can do one but pulling off an iron cross is guaranteed to gain some attention. Provided you already train for it of course.

Rings can replace nearly all of your upper body training at home, especially where most folks are in lockdown right now. For anyone that has a multiple plate bench press or general upper body strength that think rings isn't nearly as challenging as weights, try the following: - 10-20 dips on the rings, each rep ending with a complete lock-out of the arms. I promise, even with multiple plates on your bench or even on dips, this will be humbling on your first go. Context: Am a circus and calisthenics coaching, and am currently working on upgrading my Iron Cross to more advanced versions.

Been doing L-sit and currently progressing to v-sit on paralletes. I got rings recently and tried that on them. Reality check, first day I had trouble with a simple support hold for 10 seconds without the rings turned out. That's whole new level. I like it.

i don't think a guy who can do multiple plate bench can do 1 rep of ring dips on the first try.

My max was 385 on bench and 275 on shoulder press. COULD NOT lock out my weight plus 35 lbs on a basic ring dip… these are next level man 😅

If you are still wondering about rings, just look at the build those gymnasts who use rings have. Nothing more needs to be said.

Yea but what if you can’t do all them crazy swinging shit. I can do tons of push ups and dips and pull ups with them. But all that swinging upside down shit I can’t do 😂 Still wondering if I can build muscle with just rings doing regular calisthenics exercises

*Still wondering if I can build muscle with just rings doing regular calisthenics exercises* Everyone I've talked to and see who use rings say they've built way more muscle with rings than with basic calisthenics exercises..

You can add a cardio component to rings that is never mentioned--imagine doing "cheating" pullups/triceps dips on the rings, i.e., using the legs to complement the movement. Try 20-30 reps performing these "cheating" reps and tell me where your heart rate is now. Very easy on the joints, minimal impact on the knees and actually fun to perform. Many variations off this theme using the rings with arms/legs combos. I am 71 and cannot do the intense brutal training regimens I adhered to in the past due to orthopedic concerns, but intend to remain active until God calls me home.--Mike

I am a boxer. Are ring going to build my strenght with dips and pull ups, chin ups without getting unnecessary bulk?
@dannish2000

it depends how you train with the rings, rest time between excersices and also amount of reps and some other factors. rings will get you much better control over you body. which will be a great plus in boxing, but especially wrestling and BJJ. rings are great for martial artists! if you are doing martial arts you have to own a pair of rings!
@frog6054

I don't think there is any workout or equipment that will get you unnecessary bulk as long as you don't eat too much. If you're in a calories deficit while lifting barbell for example, you won't gain much muscles anyway.

That’s definitely an advanced move for most people. Sure for some of the really high level calisthenics or gymnastics athletes out there they may not be but walk down the street and you will find very, very few people able to do them.
