The most powerful ammo in 22LR is hands-down Aguila Interceptor 40 grain. From a 16 inch barrel that has the same muzzle energy as a 380 handgun. It is a full 125 percent faster than cci velocitor.

I’m positive that 22 of the past is different from todays. I found some thunderbolts in my father in laws garage on a shelf who passed a few years ago. Every single one so far has capped. I’m thinking the primer compound has changed because new rounds won’t all go off always

@@Valorius they have been the most reliable for me across the board. And I find them quite accurate. For $9/100 and usually 100% reliability, I'll take it. Specific guns probably like other loads better, but that one always works for me.

I have a very large collection of 22s. Hand guns, rifles and target rifles. I do a lot of bench shooting. If I'm not shooting match ammo. CCI Standard Velocity is probably the most accurate non match ammo in most rifles and I use it for squirrel and rabbit. For ground hogs and raccoons CCI Mini Mags. The rest of the bulk ammo is plinking ammo in my opinion. When you shoot 5 shot groups at 50yds. Using a high power scope. You will really see the difference in accuracy. I made spread sheets at one time. Testing just about every 22 ammo you can imagine in rifles and hand guns. One of the tests that always surprised me. Was seeing which ammo reliably cycled 22 semi auto pistols. Over 40 semi auto pistols tested. Only 2 kinds of ammo reliably cycled in all the semi auto pistols. CCI Mini Mags and Thunderbolts. The worst ammo in my opinion is any Winchester rimfire ammo. The main reason is poor quality control. Winchester 22s that have the big flat nose hollow points cause jamming in a lot of guns.

Been shooting since a lad of eight in 1958. One thing I've learned over the decades. Rimfire ammo can be a crap shoot. I have now settled for what I can find the most affordable and go with that. If I want accuracy I'll load my own centerfire with my own cast bullets.

If you are able to find Geco Semi Auto, then try those. Probably the best ammo that I have tried from 10'' ARish gat to 22'' Walther G22. Not the best in the speed number value, but its consistency was better than the olympic grade ammo. Too bad that prices skyroketed when local competition shooters found out about that ammo.
