Nice video on Spokane, looks like a lot to do there. For real whitewater thrills, you need to visit West Virginia. The New River (now in a national park) has class 3,4 and a few 5s. The nearby Gauley has a boatload of class 5s, one of the best in the east.

This video brings back memories of our unexpectedly long layover in Spokane last summer. Unfortunately, it was during the heat dome and smoke-filled days of summer so it was hard to explore with our two pups. We loved both Walters and Hidden Acres where we stayed as Harvest Hosts members. Too bad your video wasn’t out then. Your recommendations would have been so helpful (especially those tacos!) but will be saved for the next time we go through. Spokane is special. P.S. As a small way to thank you for the always fantastic content, I’m letting the ads run on your videos. I don’t do this for any other content creator but feel it’s the least I can do to support you both.

We were passing through there in the van one year during a heat wave and it was brutal! Harvest Hosts is a pretty cool deal and those farms out there are a lot of fun! Thanks a lot! We appreciate it! Especially since we hate commercials too! Even Kathryn, as an advertising major!

Spokane native here. It's an absolute dead-end town. You're right about the beauty some parts of it have--especially the outdoors. But the fact that there really isn't any economy aside from service and hospitals makes it very difficult to earn a living. Furthermore, the drug problem cannot be overstated. Heroine, meth, and all kinds of other drugs are not just available, but in your face. Shattered lives are everywhere in Spokane. It is very hard. The city has had a makeover in recent years, but it is still rotten to the core.

Every town/city has its issues. We choose to see the good in everywhere we go.

The true magic of Spokane is the outdoor access for any water activity and in the winter there is tons of skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. Next time you visit you could paddleboard at Porcipine Bay, go sailing in Bayview, hit Silverwood theme park, disc golfing at several courses in the area with wonderful wildlife and views, and Priest Lake is a local treasure (especially up by Lionshead.
