I have mine for 3 weeks now and am rewatching all the 4k Dolby Vision stuff on the Apple TV. Watched Avengers Age of Ultron yesterday and was so blown away how amazing the picture looked like. My eyes were glued to the screen the whole movie. Such a great TV. Having said that not every Dolby Vision content is great. Some implementations are too dark imo. I have no idea why some creators would decide to make their work so damn dark. For the Movie Snatch on the Apple TV which is in Dolby Vision I have to enable Dynamic Contrast (which sucks) to brighten up the picture so I can watch it without thinking wow that's really dark. I hate that there isn't a standard in the industry how a movie should be mastered in HDR (or Dolby Vision). When it's done right it's mind blowing but if not it's too dim.

I purchased a 77C1 and 55C1 over a year ago and have been extremely happy with them. I have a 55C9 I moved from my main family room into my master bedroom and that still has an outstanding picture. There is a noticeable difference in the slower C9 -vs- the faster C1 processor. I can see the processor speed being the only thing that might slow down the C1 OLEDs a few years down the road.

I ordered one already. I was going to wait til BF but I honestly don't see them coming down that much considering how much they've dropped already. John Lewis is offering a £100 gift card so that's £1299 down to £1199 already. Plus, has anyone else noticed price manipulation prior to BF? Curry's have upped the price of the Samsung QN95A by around 100quid online but in store it's still the same as it was at the moment, probably so they can drop it back to the original price on Black Friday! Bad move Curry's, you just lost a customer to John Lewis (plus they're giving 18 months interest free credit!).

@tigerwhite007

Burn in is an almost non-existent issue.. panels look after themselves can be on for hours on static screens and you won’t get burn in.. like I said software and hardware keeps things in check it all happens behind the scenes.. many displays in shopping malls, airports etc are OLED displays they display static images for thousands of hours every year 24/7 and they don’t get burn in and if they do its not for a very very very long time
@crateer
2 жыл бұрын
I don't agree with other people saying "burn in is non-existent" blabla. Burn in will happen over time. New technologies help in delaying its effects, but there is no way around. It will take a while, but saying burn in is non-existent is just plain false. But then again, I wouldn't worry about it. Especially with regular usage. Most people watch maybe like 1-2 movies every day. Let's say 3-4 hours a day. Even gaming, unless you play like Fifa for hours a day with static contents all over. But movies, tv shows? Don't worry about it. Even if you get burn-in after lets say 3-4 years, it will then most likely only be visible when actually searching for it. So you should be good.

I bought a b8 in March 2019. The main TV of the house, and having a family of 5, the tv is used heavily. Recently check the usage hours and it has clocked 8K hours. On average the TV is on 12hrs a day. So the usage is kinda extreme. Sadly burn in has happened on the areas where subtitles appear. Even so, i will still get an oled again in the future. The picture quality is phenomenal. I dun notice the burn it that much, when i watch movies as its where the subtitles appear. Its an acceptable downside.
