Only 4X I own is Dark Ages, lots to learn as a solo player but it is a great game that hasn't got much attention.

Dark Ages is an AWESOME game!! I agree it doesn't get mentioned a lot unfortunately. I just don't know if I would say it's a TRUE 4X game since the eXplore part of it is just flipping tokens and not discovering new territory. But that's just a personal opinion. The solo mode is good aswell and I think the Q&A and some clarifications on BGG help a lot.

Great video! 1. It could have been really cool to include some main cons (if there are any) for each of the titles. For example: - Regarding March of the Ants: I've heard that a round can end by a 'pass' of the two players. Don't you feel this mechanic has more than a single problem attached to it? (Nevertheless, I'm thrilled to watch your review once it will be uploaded, and I hope it will include the expansions and how they affect the gameplay) - Regarding Uprising: I've heard that you can have an incredible strategic plan that can be ruined by a bad die roll. 2. Wait, whaaaat was that now? "Asaf"?? I know I recognized this accent, but... I never heard of this channel before. That is an awesome production, rhythm, flow, and perspective. (Again, I wish you could also include the things you or your friends liked less) 3. A little tip: You seem friendly but for even deeper connection with your viewers - you might consider ending such a video with some gesture of an open dialogue, such as: "What are your favorite 4x games?", "Which games in that genre do you think I missed and must try?", etc. Congrats bro! I'll keep following, for sure...

Such a pleasant comment! Thank you SO much for that!! ❤ I agree that I can add some cons.. most definitely! But I saw that people tend to watch less and lose concentration when videos are too long (for me 20-30 minutes are totally fine but I guess that for others not so much..). I'll work on a broader review and upload it (99% it will gappen this week). And I also agree with what you said about uprising. It is the most frustrating feeling because the enemies are super strong. Hahaha yeah.. the accent... got to work on that 😜 Jokes aside, this is a relatively a new channel as you can see so I'm still working on having a larger community. Honeastly almost 100 subscribers is already incredible for me and makes me super happy and motivated! 🤩 I'm also super open to other games to review or making tutorials and explanations but the problem is that my collection is limites to..... the games that I have and like 😅 but soon enough I'm waiting for quite a lot of kickstarters (first one will be "Pagan" the reprint) so I will do an unboxing, review and teach even if I don't like it.. And your suggestion about how to end the video is very good! I will apply it in my next video in this style where I will recommend some solo games. Again, thank you so much for your comment, for the suggestions and please keep it coming! For sure this constructive criticism will help me to grow as a content creator. Have a wonderful weekend 🥰

Hello! It has been a while, but I owe you an answer about Tsukuyumi.. so aftwr buying it and learning it (today or tomorrow I will release a how-to-play video), I can tell you that in my opinion this is not a 4X game. There is no eXploration (atleast in the base game), no eXploitation of resources on the map and no eXpand since you can't grow your base or build structures. So I wouldn't consider it as a 4X game. In general, this is a cool game and highly asymmetrical so that's always a nice thing to see. But the winning condition is the same for all the factions so it's easier to learn and teach than Root. I hope that helps and thank you for your patience 😊

First of all, thank you very much for the comment! I did not know Last Light so now I'm reading about it. In general, "fast paced" and "4X" is a combination that I'm a bit worried about. I like taking my time building my bases, exploring and expanding. I'm not saying that it's not a good game, because I have to test it, but I'm saying that companies sometimes are in a rush to mark their game as 4X. I would love to see Voidfall and Fractal: Beyond the Void. They feel a bit more to my liking. Thanks again for the input! I'll keep my eyes on Last light 😊

I like your point about 3.5x vs 4x. I also own Scythe and Dark Ages and I agree their exploration aspects are not well developed - though I like them as they ate. I’d consider Dark Ages our most favourite 4ish-x game at any player count up to 8 players. Also, if you like exploration that much, maybe a Star Trek: Ascendancy does the trick? It’s Borg and Dominion expansion really get it going with massive collective threats and team vs team play!

What do You think about Last Light? Compares it to another fast 4x like march of the ants which You mentioned in video
@ezbgames
8 ай бұрын
Funny you're writing it now, because I was JUST looking at the new Gamefound. Hmmm... I'll be honest: when I'm thinking 4X I don't think about how fast I can play it. I mean, I don't want maybe TI4 that will last 13 hours, but also I want to play something and taking my time with it. March of the Ants is a FAST 4X game. And while I appreciates everything it's doing in this time line, this is not my usual 4X game that I'll choose to play. I just like longer games. Does that make sense? Or am I sounding like a crazy person? 😅 Also.. paying a 115$ before 20% tax in France and adding to that shipping- I don't know if that'a the price of a light, under one hour kind of game. That's like 160€ Voidfall Galactic box was 204€ You see what I'm saying?
@tomaszbalcer6169
8 ай бұрын
@@ezbgames You might be right. I also prefere longer games and Voidfall is definitely on my radar but i'm looking for some faster alternatives not because i think i could like it more but becuase of posibilities to play it more and with more potencial people. @ezbgames
8 ай бұрын
Yes exactly!! TI4 is something you rarely put on the table. I would suggest Northgard for the medium play time. It's a very fun game, turns pass quickly. You can make it normal (7 seasons) or longer (10 seasons), you have there buildings, card market, deck building.. With one of the expansions you can have also more asymmetrical factions etc. Check it out and tell me what you think 😊

Yes, I think there is. I own both Exodus and Eclipse. I guess it depends on what differences make a difference for you. Two main differences are: 1) In Exodus you have full control over tech development because each player has their own tech tree boards. So you can create your own engines and ship builds. 2) resource management is more interesting in my view because they are geographically specific and constrained (I bought small different coloured dice to reflect the resources across planets) 3) Exodus has coop functionality whereas Eclipse does not. Having said that, Exodus really needs a new 2.0 print to upgrade its look a bit I think to stay competitive with the rising floor of boardgame quality components and deluxification. Also, my comparison only holds if you can get your hands on all expansions. I’d give away Eclipse but not Exodus because our group’s preferred genre is coop and control your tech tree development

@@ezbgames It is not a pretty game, that is for sure (although some players, myself included, have replaced colonies with colorful marbles to pretty the game up a bit.) It is also expensive. I bought the different expansions over time, so it didn't feel quite so bad. Your concern for both of these (looks/cost) are well founded. It is also very much a war game with a bunch of scenarios (including solitaire and cooperative). It has a good Fog of War mechanic (all your pieces are placed face down on the board) and the technology you invest in is secret. This amounts to a lot of record keeping and a lot of small pieces to move on the board. This may or may not appeal to some players. It lets you bluff in the game tho (there are decoy pieces that cost next to nothing to deploy). Is that counter a decoy? A lone scout? A fleet of 6 Heavy Cruisers? No way to tell until combat. The rules are not too difficult to understand. The combat mechanic is clean (roll target number or less on d10 to hit). Exploration rules are fun. Move ships into hexes and flip over the randomly placed chits to see what is there. In your home system, you almost always find something good. In the middle of the board it gets much more dangerous, but so are the rewards. Our group really enjoys the "Doomsday Machine" scenario. Instead of fighting each other, we team up against progressively stronger Doomsday Machines that enter the board at random locations. It's a race against time... when do you stop advancing tech and start building warships? Build too early and your tech won't be good enough to beat the invaders, too late and you won't have enough starships to fight with. Very fun, exciting game and a great way to teach new players the rules. If you do end up buying the game, I hope you have as much fun as my group did.

@@ezbgames I sent a reply earlier, but it looks like it may have been eaten. To summarize, GMT Games lists the base game for $55 on their P500 page if you preorder it now (Jan/2024). That is a good price in this day and age. That does not include shipping though. I would only buy the base game to start. The expansions are more like kits. You add what you want. There is plenty of fun in the base game. Search for "Review: Space Empires 4X from GMT Games - The Players' Aid" for a good review of the game play and components. It's about 30 minutes long.
