I just bought these and am absolutely delighted with them. They feel light and super cushioned, and the energy rods really give a noticeable pop. Have to be careful with how I lace them up, but that's a feature of all Adidas shoes for me. Good deal £125 from The Running outlet and then another 10% first order so around £105 delivered.....for a shoe with a lot of tech, its a steal.

I also bought my 11's for $50. I "fixed" them by cutting out the little token flat piece of carbon sheet under the heel (directly under the strobel plate, cut through fabric, remove, put insole back in). It makes the 11 SO much more pleasant to run in, because nothing is between you and the LightstrikePro foam.

I started running few weeks ago. My biggest problem with almost any shoe is the width. Adidas Boston 12 fits my feet very well and i even could insert custom insoles for my overpronation. They are even wider than Altra paradigm 6s in the midfood section. A traditional lacing system would be better choice from Adidas. Initially i had some problems because of my high instep using the runner's knot. It alway needs a bit of fine tuning. The midsole setup is genius. Continental outsole is on another level. Overall it's a great pair of shoes. I've got mine for 100€ and they are worth every cent. Thank you for the review! 👍

The difference between the two really shows how shoes have evolved over the last couple of years.

I was lucky enough to be able to grab a couple of pairs of the wide version of the Boston 12 from Wiggle. There aren't many wide fitting shoes like this, other than the Deviate Nitro 2. Not my go to for top speed in a race or tempo training but can handle anything else. @@r1gav They seem pretty similar, but truthfully the Boston 12 does not fit nearly as well as the SL2 and caused me soleus injury in both legs (left one still slightly sore but not really an issue). I actually have to rotate back from the SL2 to my Pegasus 38 now to let them recover. I can't figure it out. The best I can guess is that the carbon plate does it. I am basically a "recreational middle distance runner who also trains Olympic weightlifting". When running around tempo and threshold paces, I am forefoot to midfoot striking. I think that plate sends shock waves directly into my soleus muscles, but am not sure. My left leg is my dominant leg and the one with the greatest impulse. Anyway.. Boston 12 does not fit nearly as well as SL2 in my opinion, but they really are very different shoes.

I really enjoyed them (and still do) and I agree with most of what you say, but I do have a negative experience to share. They are an absolute bliss to run in for 32k but beyond that point I do start to experience a really painful lace bite; that tongue is not made for marathoning. Of course I had never gone long enough during my training, and I experienced it for the first time during my marathon race itself, which was a real and unexpected bummer. It didn't keep me from finishing the race, and it didn't significantly affect my running (at that point everything is starting to hurt, anyways), but, boy, was I glad to finish and get these shoes off of my feet! Excellent shoe for marathon training, but not for the race itself!

If Adidas upgrades the Boston 12 sneaker to your liking, it will be a different model. Although engineers never stand still. Boston 10 was an engineering breakthrough, while 11 and 12 saw only subtle changes for the better. Will there be a breakthrough in 2024 in terms of global change? I think no.

Got the Boston 12 in wide - it's shallow and snug in the forefoot. Great ride, but not the best fit for wide/voluminous feet.

i can't decide between kinvara 14 and boston 12 for tempo training. I feel like K14 might be better as it does not have any carbon in it and its lighter. what do you think ?

The Kinvara is much firmer though way lighter. Don’t have the pop or long distance chops of the Boston

Just got done with a pair of Invincible 3s, and I wanted to get something different. Could not get past the stiffness even around 50 miles. I guess I'm too used to max cushion, and shoes like the Boston just make my shins ache. Returned them and got some Superblast instead 😭

I really like them, but would go with a US 11.5 verses my normal 12. They are a bit long. Also wish they could fix the step in. Most difficult shoe I have ever worn for getting into them.

Great review 👍 I love my Boston 12 shoes and they are very quick shoes. I set my PB for a half marathon and they are useful for training for my first marathon. I'm switching between these and the Prime X Strung for my marathon training and I'm considering this for my race day shoe

I have the exact shoe and two months in Ive been enjoying it. For the stack it doesnt run like a high stack shoe. Feels pretty low to the ground so to speak. Something odd did happen about 4 miles in to my speed session this morning. I starting feeling some pain on the outside edge of my left foot almost like I had something in my shoe. By the time I got home 1.5 miles later it was hurting like mad. Took my shoe off and found a hole had been rubbed in my sock along with a corresponding bloody hole in the side of my foot. For the life of me I dont know what caused it. Nothing in the shoe I can find. Hoping its not the shoe.

I was looking at the Boston 11s in a local shop and I found the Adidas uppers were quite uncomfortable to get into. I had to loosen the laces all the way in all holes to slip my feet inside. The Nikes, Pumas, Asics I have had/tried were so easy to slip into, you only had to loosen the final two holes. Does anyone else face that or was it just me?
@EDDBUD

I always loosen and the retighten the laces. Your foot expands and contracts. The laces don’t!

@EDDBUD

Don’t see why not. Might be a little rigid for that
@ZaahirJappie

@EDDBUD It will be my only shoe. Is it OK to live with that minor drawback and get the benefits of the B12s strengths? Also, on the flip side, can the SL2s handle the faster paced long runs like the B12? It's really an either/or situation for me. I do mostly fartlek 10ks and the weekly long run up to 2hrs, but will need a shoe that can run the 42km distance at once or twice a year.. What would u do? I currently run in an Adizero SL1. So, I'm used to firm lol.

So I've just about hit 1000km in my first pair of Boston 12s and have just ordered two new pairs. Also as I live in China I've been able to buy them for much cheaper than in Western countries, and no they're not fake. Two pairs cost less than what you paid for one pair. My first pair were the black and white ones which you show off here. The next two are the new black ID5985 and the white shoes. I had to beg my wife to allow me to buy two pairs as the price was so good, usually they cost the same here as what you just paid. I've told my wife that two pairs should last me the rest of the year, though that might not be true as I'm planning on doing daily half marathons for a couple of weeks, and also want to do a short ~60km ultra marathon at some point soon. Really like these shoes, though I don't have experience with a wide variety of other shoes. I've also gone down one size with the new pairs, though they haven't arrived yet, but in my usual size the Boston 12s had a full thumb width of space in front of the toes, remains to be seen if a smaller size will be okay or if I'll need to send them back and stay with my usual. Will try to remember to provide an update on that question.
