this video finally reminded me to go back and hear that Shinichiro Yokota album, been meaning to for a minute and just never got around to it previously. album's a tiny bit on the overlong and samey side but I can see exactly why it clicked so much with you, some really dang strong & solid retro 90s house grooves all over that one and extremely easy to like. pretty much had the exact same feelings on it that I did on Soichi Terada's album that came out two years after that

ohhhh man KAGAYAKI!! finally someone who gets me!!! I still vividly remember how I cried when I was now at Ageha Gassho song 😂 (maybe it's bc I first listened to it in 2020, emotions were all over the place that time lol) Love that album. I would like to mention though, prolly my top 5 of all time at this point, TITANIC RISING from 2019. 😄

Going through the years with u it hit me how stacked was 1991 with 10/10 candidates - probably the 3 best grundge albums by Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarten, the shogaze bible "Loveless", "The low end theory", my favorite thrash album "Rust In Piece" are just a few

I was looking for a video like this one so that I could drop a list of my own. Quite a few interesting recommendations, indeed. The glaring thing is almost total absence of the biggest names in rock & metal but that's hardly surprising. Let me paste my favorites of the 80s cause I have them available: 80 - Motorhead - "Ace Of Spade" 81 - Christian Death - "Only Theatre of Pain" 82 - Michael Jackson - "Thriller" 83 - Metallica - "Kill'em All" 84 - Metallica - "RIde The Lightning" 85 - Whitney Houston S/T 86 - The Smiths "The Queen Is dead" 87 - Guns'N'Roses - "Appetite For Destruction" 88 - Iron Maiden - "Seventh Son Of The Seventh Son" 89 - The Cure - "Disintegration"

There were plenty of rock albums throughout either as album of the year or as an honourable mention

Nice! You tend to pick more of a soft pop/rock/hip-hop stuff but I guess anybody who expects to see Slayer here or Gangsta rap is in a wrong place...

Before u start with those lists you need to put a disclaimer that you're agnostic to classic rock and anything heavier that came out of it so we can get this out of the way and focus on your picks...

@@NotRealMusicRyan Nothing wrong to admit that traditional rock and metal aren't your thing, they're not sacred plus some of the genre "classics" aren't aging well

There’s nothing to admit😂 I do like some of that era it’s just that they didn’t all feature as the album of the year. I can only pick one album… You’re probably better off checking my RateYourMusic for examples but I like Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Tom Petty, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, a bunch of others as well

you are wrong on almost every year... no pink floyd? and only 1 Beatles... who recreated what popular music was and still; is to this day?

Am I wrong or have you just not bothered checking out most of the albums I said? I can only pick ONE album per year. More artists exist than Beatles and Pink Floyd

@@NotRealMusicRyan Shall I name others you left in the dust? I am 67 years old and yes have heard all of or at least most iof the albums you listed. I mentioned The Beatles and Pink Floyd simply because they changed music... The Beatles not only changed music but they changed fashion and hair length. They changed governments... Did you know they refused to play Miami because it was segregated? They changed the United States with their music... Did you mention Queen or Chicago? Wishbone Ash? At least you did put the Beach Boys as honorable mention...

@@drmorqWarrenProject you’re 67 and haven’t heard most of these albums. Okay? What do I do with that info? You’ve not heard as many albums as me and I’m over half your age lol? Who cares, just go listen to them and maybe you’ll get some recommendations out of it. I know how good The Beatles are, this ain’t Wikipedia
