My experience with both of my Powerboosts have been fantastic. The '23 is my personal truck and it's a Lariat 502A Powerboost with 50,000 kms and the other is one of my business trucks and it's a '23 XLT Powerboost. Both of them have been trouble free with no issues; there have been some recalls but nothing that required urgent attention and they were all addressed during routine maintenance at our local dealership. A courtesy car was offered in all instances. I can get around 8.5 litres/100 kms around town and mostly average around 9.8-10 litres/100 kms on roads where the speed limit is 80km/h. Under certain conditions it's easy to get 9.5 L/100 km. The 7.2Kw/H onboard power is so fantastic for our RV boon docking and for our business application. I've cross shopped earlier this year and will be sticking with the F150. Happy customer! I think most of the issues for the Powerboost occurred in the first year of production (2021) and were electronic, but I'm not sure.

Bought a 4WD power boost lariat with the 7.3 KW in the bed. Love it! Have used the power outlet to do welding projects in the field! Average 22-23, love the ride. Been driving Ford trucks since 1969. This is the very best truck yet

@ronaldhays5554 congrats. The 7.3 kw is so universal. Add on the MPGs and it's really an ingenious setup.

I have the same Truck and Trim as you. I also leave my Trip 2 alone and I'm averaging 23mpg at 6800 Miles. On average coming home from work I'm getting 25-30mpg and on the way there 20-25mpg. The PowerBoost is an amazing Truck.

I can’t imagine giving up my 22 powerboost, lariat! Sometimes I forget how fast it really can get when I need to pass somebody in traffic or merging onto the highway. You really have to keep that in mind. Only gremlin I’ve had so far is a slight squeak in the driver side door right around the handle/ window switches. It’s a slight rattle if I push against it it goes away for quite a while. Taking it into the dealer this month to see if they can fix it. But 17k thing has been trouble. I got it used in October so I’m waiting for the summer to really see some great MPG’s. Mine has been 17-33 mpgs

I love my 2023 Platinum Powerboost l have just over 6,000 miles on it with no issues until I drove it from San Francisco to Coeur d’Alene Idaho and back last week. This truck was pure pleasure to drive. However, I had a strange thing happen. The check engine light came on 200 miles into the trip with a fault code of P0430. I continue to drive the truck closely Monitoring my oil and temperature gauges only to discover that my gas mileage on the freeway increased by 9 MPG. I finished out that tank of gas getting an extra 9 miles per gallon with the check engine light on. interestingly enough, after I refueled the check engine light went off and my gas mileage returned back to normal around 21MPG. Strangely, it happened one more time on this two week trip, once again the check engine light came on again and my gas mileage increased again. The second thing I noticed, when the check engine light came on the car stayed in electric mode longer during 40mph or under. eventually, the check engine light went back off and I’m back to 21 miles per gallon. I have no clue why the system ran better when the air sensor on the catalytic converter gave a wrong reading. It’s obvious these engines are choked to death and do not run efficiently.

I wish that Ford would make a plug-in hybrid because most of the time (95%)I wouldn't need to use the gasoline part of the engine. It would be like having a Lightning with a gas backup for road trips.

I had a 2021 powerboost, traded it in for a 3.0 Duramax.. I loved the powerboost but never had a vehicle with so many issues before.. also the fuel economy wasn’t not as great as they claimed.. I averaged maybe 17-18mph. On my 3.0 I can easily average 28-30mpg.

Were you using eco mode? I did today on the highway and got 19-25 mpg in cruise control. Going 5-10 over posted speed limits.

I had a 2023 F150Platinum powerBoost with 2000 mile on it and three times it would not start brcause the PowerBoost had issues. The first time the dealer said it was the auiliary battlery was bad and it was replaced after two weeks. A 1000 miles latter it wouldn't start again. The dealer said they couldn't duplicate the problem after three weeks and to take it back and drive it. I traded it back to the dealer and got a F150 regular 3.5 engine. After they had the truck back a salesman was driving it and it wouldn't start with him eather.

I'm looking at one of these for my daily, currently have a 2500 gas zr2, love it so far there is an f250 tremor 7.3 tempting me to trade it in for that... in saying that what are you trading the powerboost in for? I'm sure a future video is coming

I love the powerboost. I don’t have one yet. But my biggest fear is the Hybrid battery failing after 100,000 miles where Ford doesn’t cover it under warranty any more. Any experiences of the hybrid battery going out after that many miles? Anyone had the truck well beyond the 100,000 miles? Any fear of the battery going out? Thoughts would be great. That’s the only drawback I have with the Powerboost. If you can assure me that long life after the warranty expires on the battery it might be my next f-150. Currently have an F-150 3.5L Eco. Love it.

Nice review. I'd be interested in what the dealer gave you on trade-in? Hopefully, they they robbed you...just like they would rob a regular customer. haha My point, is that "influencer" folks get better deals and do not represent the average or normal customer.

I'm considering one of these as I work in the RV industry as a technician. I'd like to start doing more side work and the 7.2kw generator would be great when customers are stuck somewhere. The only problem I have is $$$$. As I've gotten older, I find it so much harder to buy anything that cost a substantial amount even if I can afford to.

Imagine the the mpg if the power boost came with a 2.7 engine, 5kw battery and could be charged at home. A 5kw tesla battery is 55lbs, so weight shouldn't be much more.

I bet Ford is working on a F150 PHEV right now with the Lightning and EV's in general not selling and PHEV's seem to be the best option for many Americans. F150 Plug-In Hybrid makes so much more sense with EV capability for most daily commutes and an IC Engine for longer trips, towing, and zero range anxiety.

Two questions: 1. What grade of gas did you normally run? 2. Do you have any concerns about premature starter failure given how frequently it’s got to start the engine?
@automotiveinquiries9673
3 ай бұрын
I typically ran premium, in Colorado that's 91 octane. As for the starter. The powertrain covers that 5 years and 60k, so I wasn't overly concerned about it. We have tons of f150s at work that have the start stop that have over 100k and we haven't replaced one starter. One truck even had over 216k, no issues. It is always a possibility for sure.

According to the specific trucks, it would be well within its tow capacity and leave room to spare. I think it would easily handle it
